Aletta Henderson was born and raised in Detroit. Having released her debut album in 2005 she has since appeared in several stage plays and is no doubt spending a lot of her time raising her six children. This EP comprises four full-length songs and one short interlude, beginning with the soulful "You're The One", which kicks in with a funky bassline, confident vocal and tight vocal harmonies declaring God's constancy and reliability. This is a catchy, radio-friendly song and is by far the standout track. The other tracks are not as immediate; pleasant, '90s-style jazzy soul, but meandering too much to grip the listener. Aletta's voice is largely confident and strong, but curiously she sounds quite unsure of herself in much of "Lettin' Me Slide". Let's have more songs like "You're The One" next time.
