The "contemporary" (late '70s) recordings of Vol 3 show a man at ease with multi-tracked funk (listen to the scorching rhythm track on "It's Gonna Rain"). Shame about the poor packaging (sleeve notes and discography info could have been reasonably expected) but there's still some folk interest in the soulfuller side of Christian music who aren't familiar with many of these gems, for whom these albums will be a revelation.
