Hailing from Illinois, Christian Raw Dog are a three-piece rock band comprising of Rick Roman, Robert Schwartz and Bernie Hahn. Between 1988 and 1996 they recorded four albums in a home studio. Originally released on cassette these were transferred to CD in 2005. This is the fourth album originally made in 1996. The style is very much hailing back to the rock 'n' roll sound of the '70s with strong guitar riffs and solos. The vocal style is also very much reminiscent of bands such as Led Zeppelin. 'Different Faces' is made up of a number of songs interspersed with a number of short interludes. These interludes such as "1-2-3-4" and "A Brand New Day" are generally made up of more experimental and less cohesive music and sometimes spoken or sung words. Instead of adding to the album however they seem to just disrupt the flow and get you reaching for the skip button. When they stick to what they do well, on tracks like opener "Welcome To Dystopia", they produce solid rock 'n' roll tracks with some solid guitar work. These tracks are however too few and far between.
