This Alabama-based singer can't remember a time when he wasn't singing and, having begun formal vocal training in 2006, Dakota was subsequently picked up by management/publicity company Wonderment Entertainment. Since then he has worked hard touring and preparing for this EP release in 2011 and his forthcoming full album later in 2012. I'd say that work has paid off as the four tracks on this release are solidly produced, radio-friendly pop that has gained favourable comment from the likes of CCM Magazine, who wrote "He may be young, but newcomer Dakota Green showcases maturity beyond his years on his latest EP. . . Definitely an indie artist to watch!" The theme of the EP is very much giving God control of your life, although sadly the lyrics are pretty "crossover friendly" so open to interpretation if not listening from a Christian perspective; The opening track, "All I Wanna Know," asks God to "break me, tear me down" and take control. "It's You" begins quite stripped down and builds to a bouncy declaration that "life is not worth living if I don't have you." The slower tempo "Love Is Taking Over" discusses how the answer to life's hard times is to let God take control, and the closing "Let It Go" is about being humble and letting go of life. Musically there's a good mix of acoustic and electronic elements, and Dakota's voice is attractive.
