To make music as good as this in your own little studio proves that (a) you understand the CRAFT of songwriting and (b) you understand how to get the best out of a tiny recording budget. Midlands singer/songwriter Paul Davis, aware there were dozens of similarly named chaps around, has adopted the stage name Dean Rockfield and here turns in an easy on the ear album full of wistful melody, intelligent lyric writing and an attractive pop voice. The opener "I Drift Away" is almost a West Coast soft rock throwback while the reggae rhythmed "Uncried Tears" is a moving song inspired by the suffering people of the world. Catch those classy harmonies. Sheer class.
