A quick glance al the flowery, girlie cover and the location for the recording of this album (Nashville) might give you a fairly good idea of the direction of this album...and your assumptions would he pretty accurate - a gentle pop album with a definite country feel. In fact, if "Nashville" was a Cross Rhythms style category, this would sit slap bang in the middle of it! Erin is, stylistically and vocally, very reminiscent of Susan Ashton with a dash of Christine Dente from Out Of The Grey for good measure - or. for those of you with a slightly longer memory. Edie Brickell. All the songs on 'A Scrapbook Of Sorts' are penned by Erin's husband Brad O'Donnell who appears to have masterminded the album. The melodies are catchy but not too obvious, and Erin's beautiful, clear and silky voice does them credit. My only criticism would be that in common with many well produced. big-budget American albums, the drive for marketability leaves it a little characterless and like a hundred other albums you've heard (and probably own). But if you know what you like, and you're not always looking for the next big groundbreaker. This album could find a very happy home in your collection.
