This is the debut release from the St Louis, Missouri rapper which cuts straight to the chase with its intricate rhymes and thumping beats. There are a couple of tracks here which stand out since they deal with topics seldom addressed by the music industry in general. "Ladies" takes us on a musical history lesson by considering what it was like being a woman in biblical times and their vital importance in the early church. "Give Us The Truth" is another joint that flips the script, an autobiographical account of working through issues of false teaching and deception spread by the church. Time and time again the hard hitting lyrics manage to inspire and challenge in equal measure with the interludes cleverly worked in. Whilst not as eclectic as some of his later releases, this is a remarkably assured album whose authors' heart felt honesty and refusal to conform shine through.
