For three years Hannah has wowed audiences with her lead role in Luv Esther, Ray Goudie's musical based on the book of Esther and here she presents her debut album, co-produced at Bristol's NGM studios by Ray's son Dan with Tom Mills. Some of the songs here have a punchy, modern pop sound with "If Only" having a surging chorus, some effective use of the vocoder and a vibe guaranteeing radio play while Hannah's dramatic version of Luv Esther's "For The Love Of Juliet" is even better than Tanya Wilson's version heard on the Luv Esther soundtrack album. As well as pop sounds, the album also takes in inspirational balladry and "His Love" is good of its ilk showing Hannah has the confidence and range of divas far older than the singer's 23 years. The style hopping on this set might deter some casual listeners but no one can deny Hannah's vocal power. And the songs on 'You Are The Song', many composed by Phil Barlow and Ray Goudie, take in a wide range of biblical themes including Hagar the prostitute ("Just One Look"), Ruth ("This Is Forever"), the Prodigal Son ("Come Home") and Hannah, the mother of Samuel ("You Lift My Head"). Hannah is a young lady with a heart overflowing with the desire to minister the Gospel and this album will surely aid her in her wish.
