Buffs will recognise this as the first, much sought after album (circa 1972) of T-Bone Burnett and the wheezly voiced, composer/producer came up with a compelling set of bluesy self compositions. There's his usual incisive way with lyrics ("Now I don't mind no light sermon but I don't care for being preached to"), the Fabulous Skylarks give gospelly backup and there are two bonus tracks for collections, one being a raunchy version of the old Ray Sharpe rockabilly opus "Linda Lu". A mainstream rock rarity that's worn rather well.
