I've heard a little about Janis English and her Balaam's Donkey Ministry prior to hearing this CD and it's all been good. A dear sister from Bamston called by God to minister in worship who, with the help of trusty studio professional Gavin Coutie has now produced her debut CD. Janis possesses an excellent country voice and for one bright moment -the opening track, the fluid, country rock tinged "God Holds The Key" I thought UK country gospel, still a minority within a minority taste finally had somebody to compete with all those hundreds of superbly gifted Americans. But then a series of dull songs with simplistic melodies and sincere but obvious lyrics left me concluding that despite the obvious heart of this project. Janis, while still moving in that inspiration of the Spirit, needs to develop her songwriting craft.
