There's an unmistakable African flavour to this engaging urban gospel set. In fact, it's the third from the London-based rappers and easily their best with "Draw The Line" and "Awesome" having been picked up for Cross Rhythms radio exposure. 'Awesome' demonstrates the foursome mixing the rhythmic tones Africa with elegant piano accompaniments, loose European guitar picking, old school jazz and even some modern distortion to create a righteously original set. The first half of the album follows a contemporary hip-hop/R&B formula and it compares favourably to many bands producing similar work but it's the second half when the group start praising in traditional African style that gets the pulse racing. You can't help but bob your head side-to-side as the beats pound. There is no translation on the sleeve when LIC sing in their native tongue though. Shame. The songs that really stand out for me are "You're Blessed" and "Let's Dance" which have amazing party choruses, soft rapping and clever melodies. The 14 songs on the CD push most of the right buttons, are sweet, and have a feel-good factor about them. Listen out for it.
