America's Cool Springs Café series of albums specialises in all kinds of instrumental music and here popular concert pianist, accompanied by "the Cool Springs Orchestra" (which presumably is the prolific Don March Orchestra under another name) takes well known carols and Christmas songs and plays them "in the style of the world's great composers." It all works surprisingly well with "I Wonder As I Wander" in the style of Aaron Copeland and "Good Christian Men, Rejoice" echoing J S Bach working particularly well. I'm not so sure about bringing Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin pastiches into the mix adds anything and one or two of the songs I was unfamiliar with (though I have to admit that "Still, Still, Still", an Australian carol done Brahms style was very nice). All in all, a very easy on the ear set with Linda showing her usual exemplary piano technique.
