Robin and Helen Thompson have been working as a duo for the last 15 years having being in bands prior to this. This is their first new product for a long while and is a clear declaration to their folk roots. 'Chronicles' opens with a wonderful new arrangement of "Amazing Grace", with the combination of Helen's wistful vocals and the sublime guitar playing of Robin soon drawing you in. The arrangements on most tracks are simple with whistles and subtle keyboard programming being the only major additions to the deftly picked guitar work. Outstanding tracks include the gentle worshipful "This Song's For You", a lilting version of much loved Irish hymn "Be Thou My Vision" featuring some wonderful harmonies from American guest singer J Brian Hill and, on the only slight musical departure, the bluesy "I Want You". This is a beautiful album that will grow on anyone prepared to soak up its gentle, reflective atmosphere.

I bought this album when they performed at my school - I'm the head of music - They absolutely fabulous live and the album is a fantastic reflection of their musicality and spirituality. From Helens sublime vocals to Robins delightful guitar playing I'd highly recommend listening and indeed buying Chronicles. And if you get the chance book them too.
