This is a collection of songs and readings with a focus on the Cross and is the latest of three albums coming from the church of hugely popular Bible teacher and author Max Lucado. It features various musical artists including Twila Paris and Wes King, plus others. The readings are backed by appropriate supporting music and are clear and read with sincerity. The majority of musical tracks have a slow ballad feel to them, with increasing crescendo and dramatic build up. These are presented with both choir and solo vocals. The final track however, sung by Jeff Deyo of Sonicflood, has a more contemporary upbeat sound. Having this style at the end was fitting with the overall atmosphere of the album. The readings worked well taking the listener into reflection and meditation on the Godhead, while the music is an expression of deep feeling and passion. I have found the readings and music concept fresh, powerful and thought provoking.
