I’m a sucker for a piece of gut bucket sanctified blues, so from the moment “Every Second” kicks in with a nice line in rolling rhythms, gravelly vocal and wailing blues harp, I’m there, and can even forgive them for a girl chorus who add zilch to the effect. Those girls crop up again on the acoustic driven Dylanesque “He That Has Ears” and again they add nothing. “Get Ready” with a folky feel had some good images in the verse, though a weak chorus. Throughout, the images on this set are straight forward, in-your-face evangelism, and if you’re looking for a gritty band with musical influences, like Steve Earle to the Rolling Stones, this unpretentious Irish team could be for you.
