Started at the close of the '80s, and making a couple of albums during the '90s, British R&B gospel team No Limits have surprisingly resurfaced. The seven-piece produce some very smooth tunes tilted largely in the soul/funk genre with occasional leanings towards rock. Unfortunately, too often the songs don't justify their five to six minute running time. The opener "Vanity" is a lovely exception, thriving on its coolness, and the similarly splendid title track (the heftiest on offer here) is an odyssey of experience and Christian philosophy, its quiet imploring of the listener to show gratitude each day made stronger by the singer's recollection of a missed parent. Of No Limits' two vocalists I prefer Sam Rigg-David, who sings lead on most of the album; Paul Rhys-Taylor is less suited to the foreground, though always provides good support when backing. Overall, this is good in parts though unlikely to break through to the wider R&B gospel scene.
