On many occasions when Christian companies have plundered back catalogue to release box set re-issues the music has stood up rather better than the packaging. I am pleased to observe this is not the case with this lovingly packaged box set highlighting the ministry of one of Britain's most important worship songsmiths. As well as Noel's albums 'By Your Side' (1990), 'Thunder In The Skies' (1993), 'Warrior' (1994), 'Dangerous People' (1996) and 'Calling All Nations' (1999) this set also includes 'The Live Compilation' offering a whole swathe of live renditions made at seven different events in England and Canada. Three of the songs here have never even appeared on any of Noel's studio albums. If that isn't enough to whet the appetite, there is also a fascinating booklet telling the story behind each album. With top rate design, this is genuinely one of the most impressive re-issues to hit Christian retail. Some might argue that Noel isn't the best vocalist in Christendom but few would deny that the quality of his best worship songs while the pop rock arrangements often still sound fresh today.
