Based in Nashville, and possessed of a pleasant light voice, Shantell is being marketed as country, but truthfully she could easily appeal to a soft pop or folk audience. With a light acoustic backing nobody could possibly dislike this, but on the other hand, pleasant as it is, there was little that stood out for me. Another problem is that apart from the more upbeat "Blossom In The Dust" and the title track, the other six tracks are all rather pedestrian and similar in style. The mainly self-written lyrics exploring themes of roots, family, addiction and love are fine, but again nothing particularly registered with this reviewer. I definitely feel that this lady possess talent but on this release at least Shantell lacks musical direction.
