This series is described as “providing the perfect backdrop for moments of meditation, prayer and contemplation”.  The soloist on this woodwind volume is Sam Skelton, a native of Atlanta who has played in church orchestras all over the city.  The choice of 12 traditional hymns includes “Were You There?” and “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go” and lasts a continuous 53 minutes.  While this isn’t an album which gives the musical excitement of David Fitzgerald or the current line up of Iona, I think it fulfils its purpose.  There are tracks which remind me of the background to some of the gentler songs by Maire Brennan’s sister, Enya.
