Terrell Hunt is an ordained music minister and worship leader from Washington DC and has impressively sung with the likes of Vickie Winans, Karen Clark-Sheard and Tramaine Hawkins. This is his debut album, which consists mostly of his own songs. For musical inspiration he draws from the likes of Fred Hammond, Byron Cage and Richard Smallwood, and for lyrical inspiration he draws almost exclusively from the Psalms: praise and worship without any distraction is the focus. "Worship The Lord" is the opening song, followed by further rejoicing with "This Is The Day". "Glorify Your Name" calms the mood a little, until the sensitivity of "Awesome" with its gentle piano and strings accompanying Terrell's silky solo vocal creates a more intimate atmosphere of adoration. The overall quality of songwriting, production, band, choir and soloists is very high throughout the album, but there is still a little something extra missing. That lack may be in two forms: identity and individuality. Hunt has diversity of styles, but still doesn't quite manage to sound any different from his heroes. There is also nothing in the music to suggest it was actually created in the 21st century rather than the previous decade. So he's a little bit old school, which isn't bad in itself: it just doesn't help his homework to get so well noticed in a crowded class.
