The Lincolnshire band have been one of my favourite unsigned acts in the last few years. This is their second EP and shows a measure of growth for the band. However it is not without its deficiencies. The title and opening cut has the makings of a brilliant song but is so poorly mixed/mastered as to be largely unlistenable to these over-tuned ears. Sad really! However, all is redeemed by the killer second track which is one of the best songs I've heard in 2007. "Won't Let Go" has a driving rhythm and as catchy a melody as any hit indie rock song you'd hear anywhere in the UK. I've been pushing for this to be added to the Cross Rhythms playlist and maybe any minute now, eh? I've played it to death on Rimmerama. "Break My World" is built around the piano of the main songwriter in the band, Adam Daubney and again it demonstrates his ability to pen a song full of hooks packed with enough creativity to arrest the ear. Daubney and band mates really have something and this is worth the three quid just to get to hear "Won't let Go". And if you download from iTunes, then you can shell out for tracks two and three there. But isn't it time The Silver Lakes delivered a debut album?
