Impressively, California-based worship leader and singer/songwriter Ryan has enlisted the songwriting help of the likes of Matt Redman, Ben Cantelon and Brenton Brown on this his accomplished debut album. Sounding for all the world like Coldplay, Ryan and his band (Brandon Collins on keys, drummer Dan Bailey and bassist/producer Josh Auer) get off to a thundering start in first two tracks "Love That Has Won" and "Battle Song" which set the scene for an album of anthemic songs of faith. Thankfully, Ryan has chosen to provide enough light and shade to make this release stand out from more run of the mill worship efforts with several tracks including "Jesus My Victory" starting off in contemplative mode before notching it up to another level courtesy of supplementary orchestration and gang vocals. In addition, Ryan is careful to avoid naval-gazing territory and wisely balances references to his own walk with God (check out the touchingly personal "You Are With Me Still" as an example) with songs like "Awaken Us" and "Chase" which hone in on Christ's love for his collective people in this impressive debut release.
