Whatever your theological perspective on the ministry of Bishop Paul S Morton, there is no denying his distinguished musical career and international renown, tinged by occasions of personal and spiritual hardship. And so, after his 25 years in the gospel business, it's no surprise that this live compilation of some of gospel's best known artists has been produced in celebration. When such popular artists as Mary Mary, The Williams Brothers and CeCe Winans gather together, you expect things to rock. And this album doesn't disappoint. The production is slick and the CD does well to capture the energy and atmosphere of the live event itself. A stomping "Still Standing/We Made It" is an apt opening to the celebrations of someone with a quarter of a century of musicianship behind him, and not least in light of some severe health problems and the battles of a church pounded by Hurricane Katrina. The whole album packs a punch but one standout has to be "Let Go", a duet between the Bishop and his son PJ Morton, who composed the track. The quality of the individual artists and the range of song choice on this celebratory compilation is guaranteed to please.
