Donnie McClurkin: Gospel star with a Pastor's heart

Wednesday 30th June 2004

American gospel star DONNIE McCLURKIN spoke to Mike Rimmer about his decision to give up gospel music to become a church pastor and his personal battle with homosexuality.

Donnie McClurkin: Gospel star with a Pastor's heart

Donnie McClurkin is back in the UK performing live with Byron Cage and Fred Hammond. In a sharp suit, he takes the stage and enjoys the adulation of gospel fans. Since the 'Live In London' album, his career has shot through the roof. It's ironic then that he is beginning to share that his days in gospel music are numbered. Having been called to pastor a church in New York in 2001, he is planning on retiring from gospel music at the beginning of 2007.

When it comes to the increasing effectiveness of his ministry in music, it seems that it has only been since he decided to pursue his calling as a pastor that his music has connected with a bigger audience. Is this a coincidence? "It happened right after 'Live In London' came out in 2000. I started pastoring in 2001. In the industry's view, it was the worst timing! Because now you're at the pinnacle and to start pastoring means it cuts right into everything that you've worked so hard to do, when that was your only purpose. But it was all a part of bringing me to this place of pastoring. It's easy to let go of the singing for me and to be pastoring because that's who I am. It's the people, God's called me to minister to his people and they are important to him. The singing is secondary."

Moving from music ministry to pastoring his church is going to be a big step for Donnie McClurkin. Surely he is going to have some regrets. "It's been bittersweet," he shares openly. "Me and Kirk Franklin sit and talk about it. He's like, 'Man, what you go and do that for?!' I said, 'Man, I have no choice. I have to go on to be who I'm called to be.' It served its purpose, it got the attention of the secular world and it's made me pastor to some of the greatest people. People like Beyonce, Missy Elliott and Star Jones, even though they don't go to our church, unless they come to New York. Now everybody calls me 'pastor'. The secular world calls me 'pastor'. I'm like, 'Lord, whoever thought that this would happen?!' But I understand now, this is who he's called me to be. Music is what I did and what I do but my being is in ministry. You've got to let go of one in order to move into the next place of your life. You can't hold onto one with regrets. You've got to let it go. I told Kirk it's going to be bittersweet because all of my friends are in the music industry, CeCe and Marvin Winans and BeBe and Yolanda, Kirk.all of them. We're all brothers and sisters. Michael W Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman.it's going to be hard because I love them. But the joy comes when I stand before the congregation that God has placed me as pastor over, and see the lives changing, and see the lives growing, and seeing the babies being born and the young people growing up in the ministry, you know? That, I can't get when I am out on stage."

Donnie's style of pastoring is interesting because he's a man who has had struggles and faced difficulties and won through. It's almost as though God has allowed him to go through hard times in order that he might now be equipped to pass on the comfort he has personally received directly from God. He agrees, "God has allowed me and others to go through things, uniquely our own, knowing that there will be people that the testimony will reach, that are going through the same exact thing or can relate to it. Others may not be going through the identical thing but it will relate to their situation regardless. People gravitate more quickly to people who show them their wounds, than to those to who just preach at them. My thing is, if I want to get into their heart I've got to show them where I've been. I've got to show them that I am not exempt from problems and struggles just like anybody else. If it weren't for God, I wouldn't be here, I would be lost. So what I've got to do is open myself up and become vulnerable to the people that I preach to, knowing that it does have its down sides and it does have its backlashes. But it's worth it to see people's lives changed."

Donnie's own story was first told in his book Eternal Victim, Eternal Victor where he chose to go on record and tell the truth about some of the dysfunction in his family, the abuse he received and his own honest struggles with homosexuality. The book was a raw, bare account of some experiences that were taboo subjects amongst Christians and yet Pastor McClurkin chose to go on record. He remembers, "It was quite difficult because in America, I'm not sure about outside of America but we have a very strong gay activist community. They took offence at the book in many ways. Then we've got a lot of people who in the church, are worried about it because it's such a taboo issue and we sweep these things under the table. So from both ends, I was getting flak."

His motivations for writing the book and sharing his experiences are revealed as we sit and chat about the issues. He shares, "But then you've got a bunch of young and old people who have gone through the same thing secretly and haven't been able to say anything to anyone; they're just looking for an outlet. And that's the benefit of it, when I can see them come to me like Nicodemus came to Jesus by night. I tell you, married men, married women, with children and families, come and tell me 'This is what I'm going through now. How do I get out of it? What do I do?' And I pray about it and I give them the council of God. It serves its purpose but I guess there's a price that goes along with it."

To state it simply, Donnie McClurkin was sexually abused as a child. He was raped by a male relative and then raped again by that relative's son. Donnie struggled for 20 years with homosexuality and then God delivered him. But how did that deliverance take place? The answer is simple and he explains, "The deliverance took place by me finally realising that I'm not who my desires say that I am. Let me put this down for the record, you're about one of the first ones that I'm saying this to; the struggle's still not over, you know? Just because God delivers you doesn't mean that the temptations don't come back and people need to realise that. It is not odd or strange for the very thing God has delivered you from to come back to see if everything's still cool, you know? I still have to fight and it seems like the more I preach about it, the more people try to test it. But you've still got to remain and you got to keep yourself surrounded with people who will keep you accountable. Those things are part of the ongoing healing and deliverance. And just like everyone has to deal with whatever dark secrets and demons that they have to deal with, I'm just more and more vocal and a little more transparent with it."

He continues to share about the stages of deliverance. "It came about because first of all I admitted it and took off all of the masks, opened up every closet and said 'This is the truth of what happened.' My mom was totally amazed, my family was totally shocked. But then I wanted to deal with it because this is what I went through. This is what I struggled with and still have to struggle with. I told them I was going to be needing support, or they could get out of the way; one of the two. Because I'm not stopping, I'm going forward. And they've been there. So every attack, they've been there. They've understood everything and THAT helped in my deliverance. Having the 'base' behind me to keep me strong. Then, the more you see people delivered, that strengthens you in your deliverance. The more you testify and see the few respond, that enables you to realise what I'm here for!"

For years there have been rumours of homosexuality amongst American gospel artists and the prevailing cover-up culture that does not expose the sin within the industry. Gospel artist Carlton Pearson recently went on record with his comments on the gay issue which contradicted the generally held evangelical perspective that homosexual activity goes against basic Bible truth. Donnie believes that gospel musicians have a responsibility to the public. He explains, "The general public see us as 'the ministers'. They see us as the authorities. They know that we should not be singing about anything that we don't believe. We shouldn't be espousing anything that we're not ready to live. So they're believing that what we're saying, we live. Sometimes unfortunately, it is just the opposite."

He continues, "You spoke about Carlton Pearson, it's a shame that these things take place. A man who once preached the truth now turns around and denounces the things that he once preached so fervently, to become popular. And thus hurts and damages people in the interim. But I know my calling and I have to keep strong. The bottom line is, if I mess up tomorrow and if I'm out in the lifestyle and I'm totally bankrupt of all my morality.I would be the first one to tell them 'Don't follow me. I'm wrong, God is right.' But that's not going to happen!" he laughs.

McClurkin shares honestly about his feelings, "You can't talk about the redeeming and saving power of Jesus Christ when you're still living in the abominable. I know I may get into trouble with some who may think that I am a little too strong saying that homosexuality is abominable but there's a Bible that I have got to concur with. I've got to agree with it. Not to the slighting of those that are involved but to the pulling down and destroying of the thing that they're involved in. We can't kill the people, the people are too precious to God. Everyone is too important to God and God does not dispose of people!"

The compassion of a pastor is revealed as McClurkin shares his thoughts about those caught up in a gay lifestyle. He refuses to be condemning of those who are homosexual but rather seeks to separate the sinner from the sin. "We make our own choices," he says. "Heaven or hell is our choice but God is ever extending his hand and he's ever-loving. It's time for Christians to start doing the same! The bottom line is we've been too hard, we've been too absolutely dogmatically ignorant. These are situations in people's lives, this is what people are born into. I don't believe that they're born that way but they're born into these things. And we've got to address them and we've got to love them, we've got to nurture them and we've got to embrace them. And we can't judge them because the end of the story is not written yet!"

It often seems that in the church, when it comes to the gay issue, Christians struggle to come up with a compassionate response but McClurkin thinks it's time to change. "We do it with the drug addict! We do it with the alcoholic! So why can we not do it with those who have sexual differences? Pull them in, embrace them, love them. Give them the truth of God with the love of God and watch people's lives change. I see it happen all the time. I've got people in the church that I'm still working with who are young and old. They'll say, 'Pastor, it's been a whole month, nothing's happened!' And I tell them it's good and to not even worry about counting the days, take one day at a time. Love God, every day fall more in love with God and you'll find these things falling off of you. And that's how we do it, we do it one day at a time and increase our intimacy with Jesus Christ and we see him change our nature, realigning our passions." CR

Jehovah Rohi bless you richly Pastor Mc Clurkin. I must admit I have been one confused little rebellious lamb lately. And after loving your Ministry for such a long time, and going through so many experiences that surrounded you - I started for a short while, to despise the sound of your vioce, because God says one thing, and you are saying another.
However I have made it to December of 2007 by the Grace of God, thanking God mainly for sound mind at this point, knowing that I know that The Lord over all has a Divine Role for His own to play, and HE WILL NOT FAIL - It's just not possible. I bought a $600.00 ticket to attend your concert in Trinidad, but it was not meant to be, as the concert was postponed, and when the concert did happen I missed the advertisement, and was not in the country.
I will always remember though how you looked at me when we spoke face to face at Trinidad Hilton. Thank you for your words of comfort. Until we meet again - I AM PERFECTING FAITH.

I love your music, you gift, your sensitivity, your sincerity, your honesty. I truly hope for you that you are able to hear the voice within which you've known since you were little, over the thousands of voices which clamour around you. Be true to yourself, above all else. Never let your loyalty cloud your judgement. You will not be complete until you do.

I enjoyed the article about Pastor McClurkin. It is such a pleasure to hear the truth. In these days and times we must tell the the unadultered truth. Jesus is soon to return and there is no time for playing. There never was time for playing but we will have to answer to God for every idle thought and deed. It is so important to tell people what is going to help them. God bless you Pastor Donnie!

What's up girl,
thanking God for you, and praying that you posses that perfect faith needed to please God.
I read your comment, an now dawned on me that it was not important to me to read the story on Pastor Mc Clurkin, as God is not ever finished with any of His children, and I have this report from Abba Father, that simply tells me that I don't need to read man's (The Pastor's) unfinished report.
I already know that Pastor Mc Cklurkin was set up by God to tell the world his testimony,(what he knows about himself) so others can be blessed by the blessing they give, and those who choose to curse this man of God, puts a curse on themselves. It's a God set up.
So stay blessed! And for those who do not understand what God is doing with Pastor Mc Clurkin-
It would be better for you to stay QUIET!

Pastor,
Your story speaks directly into my situation. I am struggling with my sexuality as well. God has told me that I will overcome it, but a lot of times I get discouraged. God too has blessed me with a passion for music I sing, play piano and hopefully one day I will be blessed to record my own album and to minister to other people. One day I would personally like to talk to you so that you can minister to me. I sure could use an encouraging word. If God did it for you, I know he will do it for me. I will never give up. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. God Bless.

Pastor McClurkin, when i read your story, u remind me of King David, a man with many defects&mistakes, yet the LORD called him, ''a man after mine heart'', i reconed because when David realised his defects he wasted no time in repenting b4 GOD bout it&that made him a man after GOD's heart, his humility&repentant heart b4 GOD. To me you are a man of character, with the same calibre of King David's, that is whom i consider a role model, a man who lives in the fear of GOD & love 4 JESUS! u r a remarkable MAN, keep on keeping on & stand4CHRIST standing immovable:-)

Where did you find this story of pastor Donnie having a son? It is hopeless for a pastor who fill himself with gossips and lies instead of the words of God. Get the Real Life!

This is a lie from the devil about pastor Donnie McClurkin having a child out of wedlock. Pastor Donnie McClurkin does not have a son so stop spreading this lie. It is not true that pastor Donnie McClurkin have a child or a son out of wedlock. Pastor Donnie McClurkin is a faithful servant and annointed man of God that God is using powerfully and greatly in the whole world to bless us and for the glory of God. So to save souls for the kingdom of God. The Lord says no weapons formed against pastor Donnie McClurkin and the children of God shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise up against us in judgement shall be condemned. The Lord says I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. So our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, in Jesus name, Amen. And Father God continue to use your servant and son Pastor Donnie McClurkin forevermore to bless us for your glory, in jesus name, Amen. To you Oh God be all the glory, thanks, praise, worship, and honour forevermore, Amen. God bless you Pastor Donnie McClurkin.

Pastor Donnie does have a son which I heard him acknowledge at the Mt Airy Church of God in Christ at their Men's Conference in 9/05. Did you ever think that perhaps he didn't acknowledge it before then do to his wanting to protect that innocent child from the public? Everyone knows how transparent Pastor Donnie is about his life, which has helped others recognize that God does not hate the sinner, but the sin that is within him or her. We should not condemn people because they have sinned, but instead pray for their deliverance as well as encourage them to look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith for the strenght and the power to overcome whatever sins are in their lives. Afterall, according to the bible, sin separates us from an holy and awesome God. That SIN can be anything such as fornication, adultery, overeating, lying, gossiping, stealing, robbing God of His tithes & offering, etc. So my dear christian community, let's not focus on the type of sin, but the fact that we have transgressed God's holy ordinance(the Ten Commandments). For God has clearly stated that no sin shall be a part of his eternal glorious kingdom which is soon to come. It's all about a relationship, with Jesus of course. When one makes a committment to serve Him all the way, that's when one becomes victorious and obtains the strenght to live holy for the Lord says to be holy even as He is holy. God bless!

As a former fan of your work, you disgust me. How DARE you speak and sing of God's love one minute and call ME and abomination the next? One day you will learn that hating me and other proud, successful Black (and other) Gay men like myself WON'T MAKE YOU STRAIGHT! Stop hating yourself, Donnie, and then -- ONLY then -- will you have even a hope of knowing God's love. I pity you, but you will NOT demean me.

David...Get a grip! Read what Donnie said..He spoke truth as does the BIBLE. The act of homosexuality is an ABOMINATION!..Get in touch with yourself. Donnie
is fine. He admits that you and those like you need to be loved and embraced until you overcome. Don't hate the player...Hate your game! Donnie is God's chosen. You are too..You've got to surrender! Peace!

David,
It is our mandate as ministers of the gospel to tell you the truth.
God still loves you but your choice to be gay is still wrong.
Pastor Donnie does not hate you.
He has been delivered and this is his stand.
My brother was black, successful and gay. Today all the money he made is not important.
We buried him behind our family church and the death certificate read CAUSE OF DEATH: AIDS
Do you have to be gay to have aids? No! I just shared my brothers story and our loss.
Great article Pastor Donnie and as always "I Love Ya"

Reply by Rachel Nakazibwe in Uganda @ 07:08 on Jun 29 2007

David,

I will not condemn you but homosexuality is wrong. I would like to tell you that the bible says in the book of Genesis 19: vs4-vs11 & vs16-vs25 Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

This is because God could not stand this sin. Man was created for woman and not man for man or woman for woman.

May the good Lord touch you and change and save you.

God bless you

Pastor, I want to commend you on spreding the gospel(the true), God is a God that he can not lie and it's evident that he has did a wonder work in you. I also have a daughter that is dealing with issue and I'm standing on God's promise I know that she'll be delivered in God's time. But may God continue to bless you and your ministry. I pray that more ministers would preach the true and not their true. The word can't return void.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK GOD TO TAKE THAT TEMPTATION AWAY FROM YOU AND HE WILL DO IT IF YOU ONLY BELIEVE, WHY ALLOW YOURSELF TO GO THRU THAT WHEN YOU KNOW THAT GOD CAN TAKE IT AWAY ITS NOT THAT HARD ITS ALL UP TO YOU IF YOU DONT WANT TO THAT MEANS YOU STILL WANT TO BE WITH A MAN, YES YOU SAID GOD CHANGE YOU AND HE HAD DELIVER YOU FROM HOMOSEXUALLITY BUT YET YOU ARE BEING TEMPTED, I MEAN WHATS UP WITH THAT? JUST PRAY GOD BLESS YOU

Reply by Janet Irons in Lewisville Texas @ 20:06 on Jan 28 2007

Excuse me sister, but with all due respect, have you ever been delivered and set free from anything???..... the sin is not in the temptation, it is in yielding to that temptation that we sin. Wherever we come from or the very thing that God has deliverered us from Satan will always bring it back around to tempt us!!
Pastor Donnie you keep on being real for us and for yourself!! We love you and God loves you best!!

Reply by Work in progress in Trinidad @ 22:12 on Jun 11 2008

The sin is not the temptation. It is when we give into it. The bible says that when a demon leaves a house it goes roaming then returns to the house and if the house is empty it brings back demons worse than itself to inhabit it. This tells us that Satan and his demons DO check back on us. Obviously Satan would try to tempt us with the things that easily beset us. This was also something imposed upon Pastor Donnie, so there is also shame, guilt, anger etc that he would have had to overcome. What a mighty testimony he has!! Good for him. God said resist the devil and he will flee. He never said the devil/temptation won't come.
Good for you Pastor Donnie!!!

Pastor Donnie, Greetings in the Name of the Lord.

We all love your songs around the world; we believe you are a devoted and courageous man of God. The words of your songs penetrate heart.
You gave us your testimony, your honesty and simplicity are great. It is encouraging and restoring for people like me who went also through dramatic situations as rapes, abuses, victim of witchcraft, and broken family.
We hear about you in English countries of Africa such as Nigeria, but you have never been in French speaking countries. We feel like forgotten pastor Donnie, we need you too!!!

Pastor Donnie!!! I can not even begin to tell you how you have been a blessing to me in my life!! I am a woman who has been seared from my conscious with God every since about age 8. I wasn't physically introduced to the lifestyle until age 18. I grew up in a God fearing , Pentecostal Holiness home. My Mother being the pastor of the church!! I LOVED church, but because of my music!! I was blessed with the gift, to play the drums and then the keys!!! But in my free time the devil toyed with my mind!! So for 20 years now I have been actively "in the life". I was saved in 1990, and then I backslid, then I was saved again in 2005!! This time not to ever let go of his hand, because of people like you that are teaching the word and showing me how to trust and rely on Him!! I know that my total deliverance will come, I just thank God for you!! So PLEASE dont stop teaching the Word. I hope to one day visit your church and meet you in person. You are such an inspiration in my life!! You know,..... you hear preachers preaching against homosexuality all the time, but when it comes from one who has been there!!!!, and KNOWS OUR STRUGGLE!!!................ It makes all the difference!!!
Thank you Donnie!!
Pray for me as I continue to pray for you!!!!
Enjoy your blessings!!!

Well......................while your story was very inspirational, I must say that for many homosexuals and bisexuals it is not a choice to pick their sexuality and by saying that; you just perpetuate the stereotype and condone hate. Which i am sure is not the christian way. I pretty sure the bible teaches love.

Reply by Loyiso in Pretoria, South Africa @ 11:45 on Apr 2 2007

Nigel

Stop listening selectively. Hearing what you want to hear won't do you any good. You read the story and the pastor states that we as christians we must stop discrimainating against gays as they need our help.
Your problem is that you want him to say, there is nothing wrong with being gay you have to accept your sexuality and all those things. My dear being gay is demonic and GOD does not aprove PERIOD. Stop being in denial and start looking for help.

Posted by Dee in Michigan @ 21:35 on Feb 28 2007

Niegel, think about what you are saying. You my friend are sowing discord among the people who need to know Jesus. Perhaps homosexuals and bisexual believe their born that way, BUT remember Jesus Christ died so that we can be born again. We all need to pray and encourage one another to become more Christ like.

I believe donnie has come a long way. his music has blessed my life so much. I love his ministry however someone say it is time for him to be married, but its not easy as u might say he has to seek god to give him a wife that will truly understand his ministry and what he has been through. I pray that he will find that person soon.

Reply by Monique in Trinidad @ 16:06 on Feb 22 2008

Hi Melisha,
You know something, As Our Father in Heaven already knows who is going to be the wife of Pastor Donnie Mc C'lurkin, what troubles many is that we hope, we pray, we doubt, we wait. Human nature -we want to know and we want to see.
We are all guilty of speculating at times.
Just keep trusting that Jesus is so, so good at what He does, and be comforted.

The Lord graced me with a little wisdom recently.
Look at David, a man after God's heart. God knew everything concerning David-King after Saul's reign.
David lusted after what was not his own, worked mischief to his shame, practically murdered Babsheba's husband. But - when one is chosen by Jehovah God, no one and nothing can change His mind. And you know know what to, we have to be careful what we say, and pray to... that we do not cross the path of God's chosen;( like Babsheba's husband- still proved to be righteous as he refused to sleep in his home as his men remained in battle)

We need not hope when we serve The Almighty God who has and will never fail His children.
Almighty God reveals stuff to one that He knows that He can trust with TROUBLE.
Be careful how you treat the simple things/people that cross your path- they may hold your future in his/her hands.
BE BLESSED!

Deemene,
I know my move to respond to your comment today comes late to you, but still is God's timing, as the Lord touched my heart to write on the topic you touched on.
I'm sure by now you realize there is no email to get for Pastor Mc Clurkin, and if by chance you were to get an email, you would still not get any reply.
Example: Have you seen any reply to any of these comments by Pastor Mc Clurkin here. NOOOOOOOOO!
My experience- I am one radical believer in Christ, and at one time I myself wanted an email for Pastor Mc Clurkin. I don't know why my Heavenly Father allows me to get away with some of the most crazy stunts , as I tried to contact my dear brother in The Lord; in such a way that I can honestly say that I stalked the man of God, for which I have already REPENTED.
But you know what God did for me, instead of just giving, God set me up to meet this precious man of God face to face by His(GOD) rules and in His Time. All my thoughts became scambled eggs. Imagine -a man could still have that efect on me. For me that had to be a divine reaction, as pain pushed me into giving Jesus my ALL.
So I'll tell you the same thing Jesus told me. All good things come from Jesus. You want to show how grateful you are, Worship, praise and glorify the one who sent Pastor Mc Clurkin. Jesus deserves All the Glory. And you know what, thank God you need no email to talk to to Jesus. Now access to Jesus! AMEN!
Jesus does want you to be distracted by the one whom He chose to use to set you free.
Why does every one want more and more of this man? I had to check myself as I had made him into my God at one time.
One day I will tell you the whole story!
Love Ya!

Actually this is to In Love - God's Love in Trinidad,

I agree with you wholeheartedly!!! I had to come to the realization that I had made Pastor McClurkin a type of god. I love the Lord dearly, but I too found myself becoming a sort of stalker. Anytime he was near to my residence, Northern California, I had to be there. I remember a time when I told myself I was not going to hear him speak, and I thought it would be easy, but the night that he arrived I found myself thinking should I break my vow that I'd made to myself and go. Thank God I didn't I stayed home. I can now say by the grace of God I once again have things in the right perspective. The LORD is back on the throne like HE should be. God bless Pastor McC for being available to be used by God, but we must always remember he is not GOD!

The Living Word of God is all you will ever need to guide that young man to Jesus. If you have faith, and I have faith- we make two; where two or more are gathered(in righteousness) agreeing on anything, His will be done by my Father in Heaven. Every time you see that young man why not encourage him through a bible scripture, showing him that you have faith that he is going to get there.

Here is a good place to begin- 'JESUS WAS WOUNDED FOR YOUR TRANGRESSIONS, JESUS WAS BRUISED FOR YOUR INIQUITIES, THE CHASTISEMENT OF YOUR PEACE WAS UPON HIM(JESUS), AND WITH JESUS CHRIST STRIPES, WITH EVERY ONE OF HIS STRIPES- YOU ARE HEALED!

Jesus is expecting you to representing well!

Thank you. I appreciate this commentary. As a Christian heterosexual female who loves God and loves others, it is affirming to read Donnie's comments on the way we should treat those who struggle with homosexuality. While this passage still does not completely settle in my mind whether homosexuality is a choice (I bend toward the notion that homosexuality itself may not be a choice - just as many mental, physical, and psychological states of being are not choices -, but acting on homosexual feelings is indeed a choice and acting on those feelings is the real sin the bible addresses), I do think it is important that we continue this conversation as a larger discussion in the body of Christ. We cannot risk the spiritual downfall of any of our brothers and sisters because we choose not to embrace, encourage, love, and educate them - regardless of who they are and where they are in this life's journey. I have too often witnessed Christians being a poor witness to others by treating people badly because of thier sexual orientation. I have too often witnessed people who identify as gay, lesbian, or transgendered turn away from the church and seek other outlets for "spiritual expression" due to the intolerance of church folk. I think we should learn to focus our energies on addressing the sin instead of attacking the “sinners” (as all of us if you will remember are sinners). Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

I have just watched the Trumpet Awards and was so touched by what Pastor McClurkin has experienced. I understand nothing can occur in this life without the permission of God. Pastor McClurkin stated through his trials and tribulations he is able to help others. Wow this is so humble. One willing to assist those with their hurt so that they too can be healed. To God be the glory.

I understand Pastor McClurkin has to do the will of God, but I will missed your heavenly voice in song. God always knows what's best for us. Do will of God as a good solider. One day you will be rewarded for your labor.

For most homosexuals, homosexuality like heterosexuality is genetic and not a choice. Just as a heterosexual coming in to puberty doesn't say to him/herself "Let's see, what am I going to chose to be attracted to - boys or girls?", neither does a homosexual. It is just a "natural" feeling. Now, in Donnie's case, he was sexually abused by pedophiles. That made sex confusing for him. Just a the boys who were sexually abused by priests, he may not be a homosexual. However, science is strongly leaning toward the thinking that homosexuality is determined in the womb. Face it, nature is not black and white. There are babies born every year with sex organs of both male and female (hermaphrodites). In most of these cases, the physician determines which sex they should be. Sexuality is complex, we don't know enough yet about the science of how sexuality is determined, but science leans toward the thinking that homosexuality is genetic.

Blabbertruth,
Are you suggesting that we believe scientists who are mortal, finite, humans prone to error over God who is eternal, infinite, omnipotent and omniscient?

What a choice!

Your story is very touching. We all have some kind of struggle. I have been hiding mines for years and years and years. I have been molested by 4 different people-starting at 9 years old and it affected me badly, but God has me in my healing stages. I have forgiven all of them late last year 2006 and i'm breaking out of my shell, the closet, the walls and getting to know the true me!!! Thank God for Jesus!!!

Pastor McClurkin
Your story is a true miracle from God and it makes me smile everytime I think about it. I have two uncles who were bi-sexual and eventually turned totally gay (one of whom died from complications of AIDS while I was deployed to Iraq 2003). I myself am a living miracle and every chance I get I share my story to help others overcome, I am currently working on writing a book about my life as a way of reaching the world and to show single parents that they can make it. I believe the more you expose the secrets they more the devil is defeated in your life and others who may be struggling with the same strongholds. May God bless you for all that you are doing for his kingdom!

I just want to say to those who have made negative comment about pastor donnie or any brother and sister in christ. he who is without sin cast the 1st stone. on 7/6/07 i was bless to see donnie in Oakland, Ca and i tell he blessed my soul with history lesson regarding rahab and then shared with us his testimony, He has confessed, to God and to God's people. now since this has came out and since he is struggling like the rest of us that have something we are struggling with since we are brother in sister through christ then pray for one another, he shared with us his problem pray for his soul to be healed. my question is what is it that you are struggling with so i can pray for you. I have a whole list. and sometimes my thoughts get me in trouble what about you? I am a known gospel sing in the town that i lived in. and a bible scholar and i am tempted what about you. I have faith in God and i have been through the ringer been deliver from drugs, over 25 years ago. but still tempted but i want let go, but doing that time somebody prayed for me. lets pray for one another. don't judge him pray for his soul.

The Bible says, the Living Word of God- that death and life lies in the power of the tongue. You want something, ask Jesus for it, believe that you have recieved it and keep thanking the Lord for it as if you have gotten it already. Repent now for such negative words spoken, and don't you ever speak of your self as though you are not worthy of standing in another man's presence. All that negative stuff needs to be flushed out of your mind. You have not because you ask not! And if you ask with wrong intentions you will not recieve . If it is your hearts desire for you to do any thing that brings glory to the One Lord, I am agreeing with you in prayer In The Name of Jesus. Now Believe! Remember....NO~! can also be an answer as The Lord knows your heart.

My best friend is gay and i consider myself on the way to obtaining a more intimate relationship with God. I love him soooo much and i don't want to every not have him in my life is it possible for me to continue our friendship? Will he change?

Reply by Monique in Trinidad @ 20:00 on Dec 6 2007

Hi Niki, I read note and I am proud of you - I'm sure Jesus is to, as you seek a more intimate relationship with Him(Jehovah God). Nothing is wrong with loving your friend, just make sure that your love does not go against the righteousness of God, and remember too that God is a Jealous God, that means don't ever love anything more than Him.
Now if your friend still is at the point he is on the gay train, and Jesus is calling you, prepare yourself for that seperation that will naturally bring pain that will push you into the arms of your Heavenly Father.
I myself am asking the Lord to heal my heart and mind of things I will never understand as I do love someone who insist he is going in his own destructive direction, but if we love them soooo much, let us both make up in our minds to be Lights for Christ, and when they see us from their extreme darkness- that they will walk toward THE LIGHT. Let's continue to press forward, pray and know that God knows what He is doing. REMEMBER - THE DEVIL IS A LIAR! Guard your heart- know who deserves ALL your love. Your sister who is coming out of PAIN, Monique.

pastor, it's very touching what you have gone through, but am glad that you've ysed that as a stepping to greater success that GOD has elavated you to. i also have been struggling with myself. i lost my parents at a very young stage ( father in '93, mother@16). back then i thought that it was over for me but God knew that it was just the begining. as Christ said in the crossed"it is finished", He really meant that it was the begining for us Christians to light up this world with the anointing that the Lord has anointed us with. av been inolved with a youth group for the past 10 years and 2 years there was a split up due to that one of the leaders ssaid that he was now going to full time ministry. there was a bitter tension such that the group ended up being divided into two and since then many of us lost it but yet tried to hold on to Christ though it seemed like a hard battle to fight than previously. some ended up going back to the circular world and up till this day they are lost from the WAY. please pray for me so that i can be strong in coming back and fighting what ever circumstances that i encounter along the way, and that the group can re-unite and light the country like never before.

thank your

She was created for you. Everything she ever went through in her life has prepared her for this assignment. To walk with you and to change a world. You both share the same passions, because God has intended it to be this way. Pastor Mcclurkin you are the blessing to the world. I thank God for you and your heart. Please continue to believe God for His best because thats what He has for you. She is not just a woman of God thats beautiful in the inside but shes beautiful even on the outside. Please don't settle because God has an awesome plan for the marriage its not about you or her although you both will be happy, its all about ministry.

Dear brother Rodney, when it comes to any form of temptation, prayer is an absolute must but you must also take practical steps to overcome it. First of all dont create memories with anyone you may be tempted by, what i mean is no telephone calls that you can reminisce about, no "supposed innocent" meetings that you can think about when you are alone and daydreaming and dont go to places where you know without a shadow of a doubt that there will be someone there to tempt you. Always be HONEST with yourself as situations that arise out of being tempted or backsliding rarely happen by mistake. Like Pastor Donnie said, surround yourself with people who know about your struggles and will help you when you are weak. p.s Stay strong and positive and if your church does not have a deliverance ministry please look for a church that does deliverance and get delivered, i'm not saying leave your church. God bless you and keep you always. Joy

This homosexuality issue has been a great problem for teenager at my school. Eventhough they struggle accepting that homosexuality is wrong, it only takes the special grace of GOD to send a Man like Donnie to stand and confest that it's wrong and we Christains need to stand in the gap and pray for the demon to get behind the children of GOD. WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS.

We need 2 keep on praying 4 the servant OF GOD (DONNIE) and encourage him to carray on being faithfull towards GOD and HE WOULD BE REWARDED.

Blatant Homophobic Propaganda. "We do it with the drug addict! We do it with the alcoholic!" This is your definition of compassion? To associate sexual orientation with substance abuse? It's one thing to espouse ignorant viewpoints, it is another to imply a community that has and will continue to exist throughout history some how needs to be"cured" and to disguise arrogance as "compassion." To those poor, tortured men reading and commenting on this piece: I am a 23 year old, well adjusted, happy senior at a major university. I have many friends of various genders, races, and sexualities and am completely open AND PROUD to be a gay man. However, my sexuality does not define me and there are many, many wonderful people out there who wont define you by it either. Your family and friends will accept you, they have to, and they will get over it. There is nothing wrong with you. You don't need to struggle. Be you. That is all anyone can ask. For the rest of the readers. I'm sure you're all very sweet compassionate loving Christians, but don't believe everything that is wrapped up in a pretty package for you. The uniquely American war on homosexuality is a coordinated effort designed to find a scapegoat for the break up of the traditional nuclear family brought about by modernity. They only turned to the gays after it became unacceptable to blame colored people. Donnie McClurkin is just a confused, self hating pawn in their game.

Hi Chase,

Attacking Donnie like this wont get you anywhere,he's just doing what he's called to do........to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.I agree with you that your sexuality doesn't define you, what really defines you is who you are in Christ Jesus & for you to find out who you really are,you must ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you.I know that you probably hate all the preachers & pastors but i challenge you to approach the one who sent them to preach the gospel in the first place..........Jesus Christ Himself.God doesn't hate you,He hates what you do.Now i challenge you to call His name 'Jesus' & ask Him to come into your heart, give Him a chance & see what happens.Chase, God loves you so much that He wants to have fellowship with you & it hurts Him when you reject Him like this because He made you in His own image. You don't have to be perfect,no one is perfect,it is the Christ in us who is perfect.Maybe you are reading this for the last time, but i pray that you will not harden your heart.Jesus is standing & knocking on the door of your heart & waiting for you to let Him in.Go on.......give Him your life.

When I read your comment, I see that you are really just being honest about how you feel. And when I read the replies - I recognize I am guilty of defending men and women of God who I dearly love the point we forget that we are suppose to love one another. The Holy Bible says- what reward is there when we love those who are easy to love? from a woman who really loves Jesus - I love you ! Jesus did not come for those who are whole, but for sick people like you and me. However in wanting to be whole in the eyes of our Master - Jesus Christ, we must aviod persons who remind us of Old ways, and habits. The lord is In Control, and He knows the role each of us must play. Desire to be FREE in The Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Chase-
Hello my brother,
I see you have been creating a stir among The Pastor's Fans. But you know what- I choose to be a Jesus fan all the way. I am more attracted to real people who can pour out their ill emotions, because it's really another way of saying, "I neeeeeed HELP!"
Although I still have some work to do in certain departments re. my character, you remind me of me.
Anything I felt in my crushed heart, that what came out of my mouth; and the christians whom I met - surely was not trained to deal with me . I thought to myself , " Find me a firend of Jesus who can first not judge me, then who can help me to heal! We all visit that place where someone more holy will not understand our issues
If you want Jesus, He will never tell you,"Well boy- hope to see you in heaven." The Bible has taught me that many have learnt nothing about the kind of people The Lord chooses for some top assignments.

My job(now) in my Father's kingdom is to believe my Jesus for those closest to hell. You can make it if you really want to. Saul persucuted many christians, and still God used him.

RELAX- God is in Control!
AND Stop attacking who has already made it in!
I know Jesus will use you. I love you!

Reply by Chaser @ 01:26 on Mar 1 2008

Chase, you are also a gossiper, because one of the gay community members started the "cured" propaganda. Christians don't use the word cured, so who are you quoting, one your community members or did you actually hear someone say that?

Jesus Christ is a healer. So get it right and don't try to start a new lie on that because then you will then have to quote me, so get it straight.

What Would Jesus SAY to this young man. Remember Pastor Mc Clurkin was just as confused as this young man at one time. I am so tired of the church wanting people to walk/talk/look/act so holy. You can't clean a fish before you catch it ! I am all woman, and I love men - as man is the Head of woman. But how are we going to get people to talk it out, how are we going to get an idea of how the enemy(not flesh) is thinking when we shut them up with our own understanding of things. let's be wise as the serpent, and harmless like a dove. I know you are only defending the Pastor, but we have so much more to save for Jesus. LOVE YA!

Posted by BEH in LA @ 22:46 on Nov 3 2007

Mr. McClurkin, your story did not inspire me. It made me sad. Why? Because you are in denial. I know what you're talking about because it happened to me. But if you are still "struggling" then you aren't "delivered". Why aren't you delivered? Because God made you as you are and, more importantly, He loves you as you are. There is nothing from which to be delivered! I remember getting saved and believing I was delivered - knowing deep in my heart all the time that something was wrong. I wasn't myself. It took PAINFUL YEARS to realize that I was living a lie. I almost got married to a beautiful Christian woman. Her love for me made me realize that I could go further because it would ruin her life and the life of our children if we had them. I let go and her pain is still something I live with, but the end result was the beginning of a closer walk with God, not to please the church or the hypocrites in it! I have never felt any condemnation from God...I feel His love, His peace, His joy and his acceptance! Do I have a responsibility to live my life morally even though I'm gay? Sure, but my true sexuality is as much a part of me as a heterosexual's. There's nothing to change. At last I am at peace with God and who I am. I wish that for you. Now, go ahead and judge me and tell me that I'm wrong, but no one can take away this peace and joy in God that I've finally found in Him. At last I no longer struggle with who I am. I've never been more at peace with my heavenly Father or His son, Jesus.

If I tell you something, I am so amazed that the Lord reveals things to us when we are ready to digest it, and wisely deal with it. I love Pastor Mc Clurkin, but I have come to realize that he is still in darkness. He is being used by so many christian vultures - maybe he is aware of it, maybe he is not, maybe it works for his survival. But this isthe year that the Lord is going to do greater things. The Lord is going to bring down the mighty from their seats, and he will exalt the humble. My Father in Heaven is not only FAITHFUL, He is RIGHTEOUS- the devil is also very faithful TO DESTROY - but he takes care of his own before he brings you to nothing. Pastor Mc Clurkin is in trouble, and we who truly love him need to pray that every deadly assignment worked towards him MUST BE BROUGHT TO NOUGHT, IN THE NAME OF JESUS, and must never return unto him. THE LORD REBUKE EVERY PERSON AND THING THAT HAS THIS MAN IN BONDAGE. LOVE FROM TRINIDAD!

Reply by Unconditional Love in Trinidad @ 19:40 on Dec 10 2007

Beh....you are absolutely Right; Jesus loves us as we are- BUT JESUS DOES NOT WANT US TO STAY AS WE ARE! Pain can do either one out of three things, PAIN can have you bitter, angry and happy in HELL, or PAIN will push you towards the RIGHTEOUSNESS of JESUS, or you can be confused for a while which way to go. I know you will be okay!
I know that you know that I am a child of God, but I am honest enough to recognize and admit when evil spirits are troubling me. The Word of God most certainly destroys All the works of the DEVIL- DARE TO USE IT! Beth, today I claim you for Jesus-AMEN
THE LORD KNOWS WHO ARE HIS OWN!

pastor donnie,
your story and message has not only been a blessing to me. but has given me the strength and the ability to finally speak the truth about my past struggle with homosexuality. i also was molested as a young child by older male relatives. i am a music minister who also has the calling of a pastor. It has only been two years since i finally told my wife and children my life long struggle. i have been married to the mother of my two sons for twenty three years and kept this stuggle as you said under the table to afraid of what my wife would do and what the church would do. but praise god that he connected me with a wife and her children, and my sons who all serve together in ministry here at a local church on the worship team and the odd and great thing is i have the support and the accountability that it take to continue the process of deliverance. For some it may happen immediatly but for me it has been a walking out and a allowing myself to become exposed to the light of truth not longer hiding in the darkness. your ministry for years has been a blessing and inspiration to me and my ministry. again thank you for speaking out on the thing the devil want the church to keep in the dark. may god grant you the grace and the wherewithall to stand even in the face of doubt, and in the face of oppostition. again thank you for your honesty.

yours in christ

By the way happy belated b-day mine was Nov.4th. However, I wanted to tell you that you don't have to be afraid or hesitant about this wife that the Lord has cultivated for you. You have no need to be insecure about your pass, you are who God says you are. God has already dealt with her spirit and she sees you for the awesome man of God you are. She will be everything you've dreamed of and more. So everything the Lord has already spoken to you specifically is so. It is all to the glory of God. I don't really know how to say what I need to, but I hope you understand. God is Faithful! I know you know this but sometimes its hard to believe your hearts desire will be fulfilled. I promise you it will. Also it is time and His word will not return to Him void. stay blessed man of God.Love you.

I was attarcted to your comment, as I seem to be coming in contact with persons from Africa.
The place where I visit to hear God's word, One of the pastors, Pastor Isreal ( not his birth name, as his original name is a bit difficult for me pronounce) When he stands to preach the Gospel, he delivers.... POWERFUL!. Then yesterday I met another new friend from Africa, he says his name is Thank God. I met him in a frustrated mood as he claimed he longs for a woman in his life. Well I encouraged him in the Lord and in the word of God. (Seek first Jesus Kingdom!) I must say when I hear someone from Africa speak, the accent sounds so - Royalty, and so Anionted.

Concerning the piont you made in always having to fight battles. I have come to realize that, that was the main reason I was so tired, fed up and frustrated- as I would fight with a fly if it had a dagger in it's mouth.
But the Lord spoke lately and told me to "REST, HOLD YOUR PEACE- I , THE LORD WILL FIGHT YOUR BATTLES" There are many distractions that just are not worth your energy? I learnt the hard way, and I pray in the Name of Jesus that you receive the wisdom needed in your youth, that will enable you to laugh away the attacks that come your way, and enjoy a little of Heaven on earth.

Experience taught me, so I frustrate the Devil now by simply saying "I recognize you Devil- The Blood of Jesus against you foul spirits- The Lord rebuke You now and forever. "

So anytime you get that mysterious invitation to fight, try those words and......Be Blessed!

Bless you all who have and will visited this site. I thank God for your interest. However, Please keep one thing in mind, we can't afford to judge each other due to the fact that Jesus is coming soon and we need to focus on the Kingdom of God. Most of us has gotten off of course in understanding that the purpose is souls. Its' not about us. we have to stop majoring in the minor things. we are too busy praying and jocking for stuff and titles, when we should be concerned with the heart of God. There is an urgency in the earth now to reach souls by preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lets get back to the majors. We are always waiting for God to do something for us as if He hasn't done it all. Bros and Sis He died for us remember?. God is concerned about souls. Its not about a church building we all need an experience with God that means spending time with Him alone. Lets all be a blessing to one another because we need each other more than we realize. lets get on one accord and watch the glory of God in the earth. We are all trying to get there. Thy kingdom will come on earth as it is already in heaven.

Sincerely,
Sis Lonnice Prayer

Sister Lonnice,

U r so right! We r living in perilous times and can be diverted if not alert and guarding our hearts. Been there/done that, and thankful for a God Who restores. No time 2 look at anybody else's flaws; gotta work on my own soul's salvation. We stay in right relationship with God when we continue 2 be open 2 the changes He wishes 2 make in us. Problems in fellowship arise when one brother/sister tries 2 determine where another SHOULD be. But how can any human do that, when all of us have gone astray, needing a Shepherd 2 draw us back 2 the fold? How can we condemn one person 4 their struggle when we all stumble in many ways? How can we convict another of breaking the law when, if we ourselves fail 2 keep even all but one have offended in all. We've got 2 remember that our times r in His hands, and there is a process 2 fulfillment of His Word and plan 4 our lives.

We've got 2 keep those spiritual clothes on & stay awake becuz the enemy is lurking, roaring & just waiting 2 pounce. Empathy toward our brethren is the order of the day. Jesus exhibits this power by being our High Priest, having been tempted with the lust of the flesh and eyes, & pride of life, knowing what it takes a human being 2 resist and yet still being able 2 intercede 4 us because He went through it. He knew we would not pass every single test, & He sits beside our Father 2 talk 2 Him about us, knowing what we face.

Godspeed 2 all who believe that Jesus Christ is Lord!

Blessings, dear brother,

As a mother living with a dear son stricken with aids for 13 years, I must respond:
Can we really judge God's ALL KNOWING of a situation when He told us that He is Love and the basis our living is therefore to daily love everyone, NOT JUDGE, and leave the outcome to Him?

Can we in truth say that we know His Will:
Jesus said that in Him there is no male nor female...are we caught up in thinking that we really can understand all of the fleshly sexuality situations we all face and thereby could be thwarting His will by our fleshly understanding rather than a spiritual recognition that we do not know eveything...sorry, the TOTALITY of God is not just wrapped up in the bible. Where is the Holy Spirit's understanding? He is here NOW; God and Jesus are in heaven and the Holy Spirit is here now to guide us and yet many churches do not allow nor preach the baptism of the Holy Spirit and ask "what good are tongues? Are we using homosexuality as a scape goat to keep us from addressing the important issues dividing us? Is our omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God really that interested in looking under man's bed sheets... Jesus never bothered.

I daily try to Love when my fleshly judgment and ego would rather respond; the only way fleshly actions will be solved is for us who call ourselves Christian to realize we do not know ALL of God; to Love and let the outcome to God who sees the TOTAL picture.

Much love,
J. Madeline

p.s. Who would choose a homosexual life? It is truly sad, unrewarding, painful and abusive...don't believe everything you hear or think about it.

God bless Sis Madeline,
let me start by saying no we don't know all of God. However, God speaks directly to us concerning His will in the earth. Now that means that He has a few chosen vessels that He reveals His mysteries to which comes with instruction. As a woman who truly seeks out the heart of God I know He is concerned even with the smallest things because He knows the end result. Pastor Mcclurkin is one that is chosen surely for this assignment and let me say only carries out the will of God for his life not to judge but to be obedient to what God has chosen Him to do. It is woe to those that are chosen by God not to do His will. Sis Madeline when you can't understand a thing just trust God. I promise you it will not always make sense to the natural mind, because God's ways are not ours. Look at Job in the bible. Didn't make much sense that after being in right standing with God. God still saw fit for Job to go through such a test. Job was chosen for that assignment. No I don't know why God does some things but I trust Him and I can't explain why your son is going thru this but I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ cannot be conformed to fit our understanding. We have to go with God whether it makes sense to us or not. As a christian I have to stand for what God says is right even if that means my life. Sis madeline I love you and will pray God's will for you and your son. Stay firm in God and may He continue to bless you both.

Sincerely,
Sis Lonnice Prayer

Sister Linda, praise God!. I thank you for the desire to please God in righteousness. Let Him now be your husband. I mean fall deeply in love with Jesus. Spend quiet time with Him and let Him give you your hearts desires( let Him plant His will in your heart). Continue to allow Him to be the head and submit everything to Him. Your fleshly desires as well. As a single woman that is longing for the man of God He has for me, let me say it is hard sometimes just waiting. But because I know that Jesus is my husband and that I have entered into a supernatural realm of rest in Him I'm no longer anxious I'm just ready and waiting God's devine timing. So my sister I will be praying for you and please make sure you stay in the right atmosphere. Let go of the people and the things that God requires of you. Remember, He already have the awesome plan for who you really are. Let Him do it. We mess up when we think we can handle things. Truly seek Him and know that its already done. God bless you Sister Linda. Remember when you are weak He is your strength.

I read your post and I have to tell you that you are an inspiration to alot of people, I was a gay man for the last 20 years, I was molested by my uncle between the ages of 6 and 13 years old, and I am hear to tell you that it hurts but I think GOD for his grace and mercy upon my life. I listened your music, including my favorite "We Fall Down" I am a man that has failed down so many times, I have been on the verge of suicide at times, but when I listen to your music, it encourages me to go on, so I am hear to tell you Pastor McClurkin, that I am going to continue to go forth and stay strong.

The testimony of Donnie McClurkin is refreshing. I felt inspired to comment because, whether we have struggles with homosexuality or not, each one of us are in equal standing with God. Sin is sin. I don't have homosexual desires, but my sins are no less than any other sin. Our daily struggles to keep pure as the Lord asks of us, is what it is , a struggle. We need to cling to the Lord to keep from falling.
Pastor Donnie is not alone in his daily fight. We all have the same testimony to keep "Standing" in God's grace. What a testimony we each have right along with Pastor Donnie. What an inspiration each of our lives are as people see our struggles and as a result our lives point to God as the source of forgiveness, grace, love and mercy.

Pastor McClukin, I want to express my profound gratitude to God for granting you the strength to share your experiences. Most especially, your decision to be who God has destined you be.

I tell you the truth, tear roll my cheaks as i scroll through the lines of your story. The reason is because, I stayed too long where i was not supposed to stay. I just realized that i have a callingn to be a Pastor. All these years, i have been having problems with my schooling until God used someone to confront me. Now i know, and there is a kind of satisfaction that runs through my Life.

I am getting prepared to attend a Bible School to assume the call of God upon my Life. There is nothing like being in the place God destined for you.

I close with this, Your decision for being a Pastor is a nice one. It gives me more assurance about myself too.

God Bless You.

I myself realize those very things you have come to terms with, and I am excited for you as you have made it in, not only phsically, but spiritually and mentally. There is no such thing as "too long'' with Jesus. We look at things that way when we have come into His embracing light, BUT JESUS IS ALWAYS ON TIME FOR HIS children. And may I remind you that your Father in Heaven already knew who you will become and the work that you will accomplish for His Kingdom....in spite of what, if Jesus chose you, by all means necessary Jesus will back you up all the way as you make a stand for righteousnesss, in the feedding of His sheep.
I look forward to hear of your work for the Glory of Jehovah God. Stay strong! If it was not for Jesus on my side, most definately I would have been dead to this world and burning in hell. Thank you Jesus!

Lucifer and all his foolish demons were simply given permission to touch certain areas in your life, BUT NOT TO KILL YOU!

Your son is a son of Eight (2008)- Perfect Healing is his!
If the Lord gave me the victory when my daughter was given under six months to live by doctors; our Father in Heaven told me that He is not going to fail you. Remember when you were having your son, that pain only made you push, and push, and push. Why! Because you knew that you were expecting to see Life- your beautiful baby boy! Enjoy your journey- dream big dreams, praise, worship, sing psalms and plead the blood of Jesus over everything your eyes and hands come in contact with. Avoid persons who you know lie in wait for your ruin, order your conversation aright, refuse to entertain any unnecessary, foolish talk that does not help you or your son.

When Jesus was all we had , we realized Jesus is all we need! Believing Jehovah Rapha for your complete healing. Give your son a kiss for us.

We are believing God with you and for you as God hears us as well when we pray, and we decree and declare in the Mighty Name of Jesus that every unrighteous prayer and works towards your household- that is, was ,and is to come- has been cancelled and command it never to return. May you and your son receive that particular blessing that the Lord holds in His hands for you both.

As a mother who truly loves her children, I have been well acquainted with rejection, pain and sorrow. We desire to see you free. We love you. Trinidad

Madeline, you are so so blessed by our Father in Heaven. I say this with more conviction because after blessing you yesterday, I forgot about one of a particular problem that troubled me, and as I sat by my desk just freeing my mind to God's will, there came one of my supervisors with a small token in his hand for my family- He says it was for going beyond the call of duty. Now-While money is not the kind of blessing I wait for, it feels like every locust and cankerworm is after me, and the little I am contented with was no where to be found. I told Jesus, "It's your move Lord". And You know what- He moved! So thank you for giving me an opportunity to be blessed. My soul will continue to magnify the Lord! And we will continue to encourage you in The Lord!

Remember- our blessing could not have come from a curse. YOU ARE BLESSED!

"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief Singer on my stringed instruments. AMEN

Pastor McClurkin,
Thank God for people who are willing to expose the works of the enemy. It took courage that only comes from God to first of all face the demon and then to expose the demon. Thank you for being so compassionate with others who struggle in this arena.
People will label, people will talk - sometimes it seems not to matter what you do. But, I know that God is a deliverer and our deliverance is not just for us, it's to help others be delivered. I've never had a bout with homosexuality but I've had my bouts with other demonic attacks. The Word of God lets us know that we all have sinned and come short of God's glory and we are to take up our cross daily - daily.
I love you in the Lord and pray your stedfastness as you continue to stand on the wall exposing the works of the devil and be a vessel to help others be delivered and stay delivered.

Please spear me the drama everybody
and let me go on the record as saying I am not a hater, but a Christian too I also shear the pain Pastor Mc.clurkin and others who strugged with those kind of demons, but I would never go out my way to hurt anyone these Pastor do all kinds of things and they want the church to cover it up when God put you to be the angel over his house you have to be careful what you do to people. We have for so long made it about the pastor to the point where as the people no longer matter if the Pastor get a boo-boo everyone is there with a band aide when the members get a boo-boo he or she carries the boo-boo alone again I am not sending this comment to dis-respect the man of God,because I love him just like everyone else and I know God wouldn't be please with me bashing them, but someone have to wake them up we are all in this together the body of Christ is like a tree with many branches connect together by the trunk and brought together strong to stand the test of time.and when the devil tries to come against one we are all suppose to unity like the great wall of China until the battle is over not fighting against one another(1 Thessalonians 5-15).

Sis Belinda,
Hi, I wanted to take this moment to share with you and I pray only God's perfect will for your life. Belinda, as christians when we speak, the love of God should automatically flow from our hearts. We cannot always understand the situations that God allows and sometimes create that seems to the natural eye bad. when God sometimes allow a bad situation to create a miracle to get glory in the earth, that people may see and believe. Understand that we cannot call ourselves christians and walk with God in the flesh. We will miss Him everytime. We have to know that christian means to be Christ like. Christ is spirit and truth. Lets mature in the things of God( the things of His spirit). And truly seek Him as we walk in love. Also we have to learn to love unconditionally, not judge and lets build eachother in God. Because if were not willing to help one another lets leave it up to God the Father. He has chosen some of those pastors to purposely endure horrible situations and life styles that He maybe glorified in the end. By the way, I thank God for Pastor Mcclurkin because he is a man of God that shows his wounds which is the key to soul winning. He makes known his struggles and failures because he understands that his life was chosen to be a sacrifice for others. So Pray for the saints as we all need grace and mercy. Only Jesus knows the heart. Love you sis in the lord and please don't be offended just receive it. May God continue to bless your life.
Sincerely
Sis Lonnice Prayer

Now I am going to be so real with you right now.
Sometimes the flesh in me gets so fed up standing in the gap for persons whom the Lord has planted a divine love in my heart for. Especially when one feels totally invisible, unworthy and unappreciated by those you truely care for.
But I will never forget what the Lord has done for me, that's why it comes naturally to embrace the many rejected and hurting persons with whom I come in contact with, by letting them know that Jesus is simply and still waiting.
(You shall know this truth, and it shall set you free.)
The Lord has given me the art of fearlessly being able to detect and speak to kidnappers and murderers. Now let's say I was able to reach the man that was about to murder you ....let's say that same man got saved and became a powerful preacher. I really don't think that you would be saying, "Spear me the drama!"
YOU SHOULD BE THANKING GOD FOR ANYONE THAT HAS TURNED FROM HIS/HER WICKED WAYS!
Sometimes to save ten thousand- a thousand are taken.
Now where was everybody when the pastor was going through his hell as a child and it's
But how dare you lament on matters you knows nothing about? Would you prefer that Pastor Mc Clurkin had remained in that secret hell, when so many are being delivered by his example NOW?
Don't get stuck in your mental mud, too many other lives are at stake.

Hi Feeha,
You have been in my thoughts and I have you in prayer. Know that you know that you can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens you!
My Jesus was there for me when I was unable to say the word "I" fluently, which messed up everything for me as a child. I was unable to function in school, unable to keep friends, my family was unable to understand and help me. I just did not fit in to society. Jesus delivered me from shame, destrucion, suicide, fornication, all those aother troubles you are experiencing, and so much more that is not fit for your ears. It's amazing how one thing we have no control over initially, will cause us to fall into other deadly mind-sets.

Let Satan know he has no place in your head and in you life. Jesus purchased you with His(Jesus) precious blood. With Jesus Christ strips be at Peace and know what ever is troubling you will not kill you. Have faith that when you call on Jesus He will free you from whatever troubles you, and Jesus will trouble all those who trouble you. If You lack FAITH- ask Jesus for that faith so you can activate all your blessings. If Jesus did it for me- HE WILL MOST CERTAINLY DO IT FOR YOU.

dear Pastor Donnie, I must first of all thank God for your life. Your life traumas, which you share openly to the world drew you closer to God rather than take you to an open road to hell or vengance. its just God's love and mercy that you find yourself on this path. Now you are a bright and shinning light for all to see and draw inspiration, motivation for life. Your discipline to focus on the call of God upon your life rather than the pleasure of fame and applaud of the world in music shows you as a man of purpose and destined to draw men out of darkness. keep up the good work, remain immovable abounding in the work of God for your labor will not go unrewarded. you are a man of good values. you are the Jesus the world is seeing right now, give them life, hope for their future for you are God's man.

Today i sing that song with more revelation for i know that he who got the revelation of this song knows the God he calls faithful. Yes indeed we were bought for a price so lets labor on Pastor Donnie knowing that He who called us is Faithful for He cannot deny Himself. God Bless you

Pastor McClurkin, as a child of God myself I feel special being I am a new creature in christ. I say all of Gods chosen children are special, because we were (chosen). I believe God has a very special wife for you. I believe he saved her for you , and you for her; don't rush into anything because of what people say or think wait for God to speak to your heart about who will be your wife ; wait on the lord I'm sure if he wants you married you will find love, and the woman God chooses for you will be very lucky. I mean very lucky. you could tell just listening to your music all the passion and love you have in you. and to share some of that love and passion with a wife she has to be a special woman from God. You both will be a match made in heaven. wait on the Lord. If God do not send you a wife then (He) God must want to keep you for himself so that you would keep the focus and attention on him; you know he's a jealous God; he loves when you praise and call on him, and give him all the glory. (Just saying) everyone is different.

I don't know for the others in the Kingdom of God- but for me, rejection only stirs my passion to do God's will more and more and more.
When you reject my contribution- you reject THE GREAT I AM- THE ONE WHO SENT ME! And you simply miss the new thing Jesus is about to do.

Brothers and sisters, I see some of us are still majoring in the minors. Like I said before God is concerned about souls. People are on their way to hell and we still feel the need to take time out for caddiness and opinions. Our opinions are worthless. Only the word of God stands.
Once again saints lets get busy doing the work of the Lord.I challenge you all to find out your devine purpose and walk in it. And for those who already know please lets stay focused. I'm not trying to be mean I just know that in ministry there are souls connected to our lives and their deliverance and liberty is connected to the plan God has for our lives according to His perfect wll. But if we are busy with minor issues we are not reaching those precious souls. The picture is much bigger than we could ever imagine. May God bless us all with much wisdom and understanding. Father God I pray that you would give us the faith to trust you, that without always knowing the plan we still move forward because we trust you that much and believe that all things work for the good to them that love You. In Jesus mighty name, amen. I Love you all in the Lord.

So many super spiritual persons walking the earth yet none has gotten the attention of a nation before disaster struck. Hi everyone,
I wanted to repond to cafe502. I have to rebuke that statement in the name of JESUS. Yes the flesh is weak, but God is not subject to the flesh. So when you say that Pastor Mcclurkin will always have those struggles. I understand that this is only up to God. God can do whatever He pleases. And maybe His will is to remove that thorn in due time which is again up to Him. We have to stop putting God in a box. We don't say well this is the way its gonna be because its logical. God isn't logical. He is supernatural and very unpredictable. We have to believe the impossible if we're going to experience a new thing. Lets grab hold to crazy faith and let Gods will flow through the supernatural to the natural so that the world may see and believe in the awesome GOD we serve!

I am stnding in agreement with you woman of God, this statement is invalid when you know that our God is not limited on what we think of others. Ps McClurkin tought he was deliverd and says so and as a man thinketh so is he. I am one of those who are praying for his marriage and God said he is delivered. It is very difficult for the Body of Christ to start moving if some parts of this Body have not died to the old flesh which was weak which I have found to be the case with most people who have not been baptised in water, they still live in their old nature which is constantly resisting the things of the new things of God. Deliverance is stil available and free.

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
Saints we know right from wrong we have to judge good and bad according to the scriptures we are going to be judging one day the angels. We know homosexuality is wrong. Stop pacifying it and preach the word . The unadulterated truth. The word that is most powerful in it's purest form. If they still want to live a sinful life, I hope the Lord doesn't give them over to a reprobate mind like Paul said he would in Romans the 1st chapter. I also hope Jesus doesn't come back before they get it together! Get right church and let's go home!!!! Paul says in Romans, Corinthians, Ephesians, and Galatians that the homosexual will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. I don't know what's up with these partial deliverances but the same HOLY GHOST that made Jesus body raise from the dead and ascend into heaven the same HOLY GHOST that has been saving and delivering since back in the bible days is the same HOLY GHOST to deliver and set you free. If it's strong enough to raise Jesus it should be strong enough to deliver you. Now go and sin no more!!!!

Your songs have made me realise that " greater is he that is within me then that who is against", i now know that Gods name is above every name, and there is no one like him. I have learnt to trust in God through it all. I once had to face a situation in my life where things seemed to be uncertain. Before i left i played the song that says " i call u holy, ur name is holy...........holy u are and holy you'll be......... When i arrived to the place of my destination, people where being rejected, but because i had the favour of God, God lined up the right people in my favour and turned my stumbling blocks into my stepping stones. The Head of the University said to me " Its sorted". Thats when i knew that " there's no God like Jehova" I wish to see you in person and tell you how greatful i am. Through your music i became a better person. I know now that i am under the " rock" and thats were i belong. I usually watch you when you on TBN. Pastor may God bless you all the way. You deserve all the best and nothing less. You have proved to me that in a world of followers, i should dare to be a leader. Thank you so much.

Pastor McClurkin,

You have always been an inspiration to me. I am so glad that I can trust the Christ in you to accomplish His will through you. Be encouraged! For God knew you long before you knew yourself. (smile)

You are a real man of God, it takes a real man to admit. The world would be a much better place if everyone would admit and stop hiding behind the corners. Continue to do a great work in your songs and preaching the gospel, God will forever reward you. The best preachers and teachers are people who had experiences.

Hi Pastor Donnie,
Praise God for your honesty. I have been married with 4 children and a grandchild. We are born again Christians, but nearly a year ago my husband left me he left to be with a man the worst thing it was one of the kids that found the messages from the men on a phone he gave to her. It has devastated me i told my pastor and they are praying for him. I love him so much and want him back he has admited it. I wanted to kill myself but again God intervened. I dont want to let my kids down but i am so sorry for him and i am falling into depression. my happier place to be is work at nights at home i curled up in the chair until it is time for work again. I sometime say that its no point being a christian as God could have stop this or bring him back by now I love him and is sorry for his soul. he loved to listen to pastor Donnie music and would by them all. November 2007 he got us tickets to see you in the Indigo in the o2 Arena we really enjoyed it. Then a month later he left me i am asking you please and all you people of God to pray for my husband who i will call Paul as this is a part of his name God knows him please pray also for me and my children so this wont push us apart as i feel a tension in our home, i blame myself he said it has been over a year sice he has been doing it i knew something was wrong but not that he also came from a christian home his granma. He became a christian as a child. i was his first love. how the devil got hold of him i dont know. but i know that God CAN break this please please out there all you men and women of God call out to God on our behalf i thank you all and will keep you updated on how God works things out. he wants to file for separation but i said no way. please pray i need your help desperately.

I came across your music today. How it touched my soul. God reached out to me in the pits of hell. Raised in an environment were women are worthless, and given to adults for their sexual pleasures. God reached out to me and now I am free.
Thanks for your music and testimony.

I would first like to express my deepest love for Sis Olivia Mc Clurkin as I just 10 mins. ago found out that she has been promoted to be with Jesus. I felt a strong connection with the woman of God as her passion to worship The Son on of the Living God was truly dynamic, and when she was on that stage doing what she does best- I truly saw myself.

I now want to thank Jesus Christ for being the Lord over All, for keeping my family and I from all evil, and for Pastor Donnie Mc Clurkin's last visit in 2008 to Trinidad which was indeed a testing blessing, that if the Lord was not on my side, I don't know what the enemies of God would have done with me. Might have been in a mental institute or probably sleeping in my grave.

I make this boast in the Lord, that for the 41 years that I took a good lickin that I am still tickin. Thank God for all pastor Donnie's Mc Clurkin words of wisdom, I know without a doubt whose I am, who I am- and that I love Jesus Christ of Nazareth more than life itself. The roles we all play is already ordered by the Lord- And knowing the true meaning of this I cease from sweating while I am waiting.
"To live is Christ and to die is gain!"

MY SOUL WAIT THOU ONLY UPON GOD!

"We fall down but we get up. .......For the saint is the sinner who fell down but got up".
KICC London, 2000 was the first time I heard you sing it Live and it really ministered to me that day & released me from self-condemnation.
You taught me that we are all saints of God as long as we allow His righteouness to work in us. As the Apostle Paul says - " for in our weakness His strength is made perfect.
May the Lord continue to bless you and give you more inspiring messages to sing, because I believe you'll keep ministering in song as well as Pastoring. Roni.

Hello Pastor Donnie
As always, I must thank you sincerely for being so open and choosing to be so...transparent. You probably do not realize that through your very actions, you are not only teaching about how good GOD is, all the time, but how in the process of change for you, you are showing the general public as well as Christians how to be honest, to tell the truth. Nothing hidden can ever be fixed. Continue being obedient to God's will for you. I pray each day that you are!

Pastor McClurkin, thanks for posting this. I have been delivered from homosexuality and I was still puzzled about a few things. You have years of deliverance under your belt compared to me. I need the wisdom you have and the mentoring that you can offer. I to reach out to others....I remember you came to birmingham, alabama before I moved and had a free concert..YOU prayed for me and laid hands on me. I never forgot the day. Thank You so much for standing strong. I pray that one day I may be able to talk with you one on one...that is my hearts' desire.

i thank god for using pastor to tell he's history. for the past weeks i was feeling sumthing inside of me which is i never felt it before in my life. i'm a normal young girl age 20 going through pain moment. i am a christian i do pray a lot to god and he does answers my prayers. the most bad thing is i started liking my friend which is girl and the feeling that i am having is not normal feeling, is a feeling of being gay. which is i don't want that to go far but i can't control myself when she around me. for the start i thought it was just friendship feeling but now it's not a friendship feelings any more. is there any one that can help me or advise me on something that i don't know or if there is some one who as being in same position as me please don't feel but on emailing me on my email which is on the top. thank god bless.

Hi Eliane,
Nothing is impossible with God,He has given you all authority over all the powers of satan. My advice to you is go into a fast,3 to 7 days. You can ask your friend to join you,if she's ok with your idea you can do the first 3 day by yourself (ask her after your 3-day fast). At this time of fasting the Holy Spirit will help you to engage in intense prayer/spiritual warfare.Read the Word of God continually and vocally declare the promises of God for your life.Dont worry when some people become nasty towards you (your friend included),the devil hates fasting because it up-roots & pulls-down strong holds so he might use people to discaurage you.Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to someone who can give you support during this time.I hope & pray that this will help you.You can go to www.Donnieradio.com to contact Donnie for support.Stay strong dear, you can do all thing through Christ who streghthens you and you have covercomed in Jesus Name!
