Gritty rock'n'roll is showcased on this four track EP from British band Careless who have put this out on their own label, Interstate Five Records and recorded these four tracks in Southampton! This EP simply runs the music up the flagpole and I'm saluting! The band have come a long way in sharpening their sound from the demos of some of these songs. Bristling with a brittle, brash, alt rock sound, this has a fresh energy, which combines strong melodic sounds, catchy choruses and some edgy guitar. There's the la la la ooh la la la's that open up "Flag", with its frenetic guitar attack. There's the dense layers of guitar and '70s keyboards vibey passion of "Rock'n'Roll" and the upbeat melodic rock of "All The Way" with a catchy sing along chorus which the Dum Dums would be proud of. Careless make a powerful noise throughout and my favourite has to be "Release", celebrating the freedom that can be found in Christ An excellent appetiser, now I want to feast on the main course of an album!
