Reviewed by Stephen Luff Nashville-based Jonny has moved to a new label having had success with three independent recordings. Here he has attracted top producers Ed Cash (Dave Barnes, Chris Tomlin), Chris Stevens (Toby Mac, Sanctus Real), Jeff Pardo (Josh Wilson, Denver And The Mile High Orchestra), and Steve Wilson (Josh Wilson, Leeland). Jonny's songwriting is very strong throughout. "Break My Heart" is a particular standout with its plea for the songwriter to feel the plight of those suffering ("It's hard to see past my picket fence/So I give a little from a guilty conscience/How can I ever make a change/When I'm too afraid to even feel their pain"). Production on this track is also pure joy with the arrangement, by Chris Stevens, fitting the mood of the song exactly. The album also addresses subjects such as seizing the moment ("Cross The Line"), being accountable To God ("God Is Watching"), the flooding of Jonny's hometown ("What Water Can Do") and a surprising bonus track, an ode to an American fast food chain ("The Chic-Fil-A-Song"). If you are a fan of deftly arranged, acoustic pop rock you will find this set a joy.
