It took Cross Rhythms years before we stopped referring to Lins as a "Scottish blues singer." Scottish this Perth-based singer/songwriter undoubtedly is, it was his early recordings when Lins showed himself convincing over a Hooker or Reed riff which led to CR inadvertently limiting such a free-wheeling creative spirit. It was his 'The Secret Diary Of A Tunesmith' albums which showed Lins was comfortable and capable in a dazzling variety of styles. Now he has linked up with dance music man Gary Robertson, showing that his husky voice sounds pretty good over an EDM groove. I'm not sure about the acoustic reggae version of "Ready For The Summer", the reverb/effects on Lins' voice ruined it for me although the spoken poem version was fun. All in all, I'm looking forward to hearing the album of the Honeyman/Robertson partnership with considerable interest.
