The matriarch of gospel music's most significant family, Delores Winans presents a selection of traditional and new songs backed by an orchestra! Though Mom isn't a world class singer, as she works her way through some of this the overall sound of the album is warm and the sensitive arrangements complement the proceedings. You have the cream of the gospel industry on board to help out so Bobby Jones, Darwin Hobbs, Cedric and Victor Caldwell and son Marvin Winans all contribute. If you like a more traditional sound, you'll enjoy versions of "Fairest Lord Jesus", "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and the big band rendition of "I Must Tell Jesus". Not sure whether we need another version of "Kum Ba Yah" even with its African sounding ethnic arrangement and as for "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", there should be an embargo on a gospel singer recording this overdone classic until 2030. A well worn idea, executed in a manner which is okay but not earth shattering.
