Here is a fantastic resource that will be a help to any budding acoustic guitarist, whether for worship leading or otherwise. The three DVD box set has over seven hours of hints, tips, advice and cheats for guitarists. Covering everything that you could possibly want to know about playing and leading, from the basics of strumming patterns and counting through to scales for lead guitar, advanced picking techniques and so on. Featuring interviews and advice from every recognisable worship name you'd care to mention (Redman, Hughes, Kendrick) this really is the ultimate resource - it would also be brilliant for learning in groups. The majority of the lessons on the DVD are given by Andy Chamberlain, the director of Musicademy, and while his presentation technique is not particularly dynamic, he is clear and there are enough natural 'um's and 'like's to know that he's teaching naturally and not just reading off a dull script. Some of the graphics and musical interludes are a little grating if you're doing a number of lessons in one go, and some interviews are less informative than others, but they do serve to show the breadth of professionals who have contributed to the project. As part of a bigger series of resources for musicians and singers, this is an essential resurce priced at less than £60. That's a year's worth of acoustic guitar tutoring for a bargain price.
