It's hard not to listen to this CD and not think of Phatfish in their early days, when Lou Fellingham and her gang were riding the waves of the acid jazz scene before they became more of a rock outfit. There are, of course, an awful lot of female singer/songwriters out there at the moment, but this CD is a little bit different. For a start, 23 year old Sheffield-based Philippa has some form in the shape of her brother, Stuart Zender, who used to play bass for Jamiroquai, and cousins Richard and Danny Macnamara, who are part of Embrace. Given the family connections, it's not surprising to hear that 'Watching Me' is a very jazzy and funky affair. This is sophisticated yet radio-friendly pop at its best, which will appeal to both religious and secular audiences. "Crazy Days" is a particular standout and the CD finished with two stunning acoustic tracks - "King Of Kings" and "Moonlight".
