For the hard music fan, there is a wealth of material currently available. Amongst the recent influx of newcomers within the scene, Point Of Recognition provide a welcome and novel approach. More metal than hardcore, the band is comprised of two lead vocalists (Aaron and Jason) who shout, speak and sing at each other throughout, accompanied by Michael (drums), Jesse (guitars) and Isaac (bass) who provide them with a suitable bed of tightly delivered, concise rhythms. Produced by Bob Moon, 'Admiration Of A Son' has some great musical moments, from the intense, groove orientated metal-core of "Times Of Seeking Shelter", through to "I Don't Deserve You", with its driving bass lines, fast rhythms and varied vocal delivery. The band are not afraid to be unpredictable, as in "Sin Revealed", complete with passages of atmospheric keyboard. For all that Point Of Recognition have going for them however, and judging by what can be heard here the potential is huge, 'Admiration Of A Son' comes over as yet another good hardcore album amongst a myriad of others within the genre. Let's hope the band are able to create the master piece that is so evidently within their grasp.
