The veteran diva certainly has a large back catalogue to plunder and has done so to great effect with this Christmas compilation. There are 15 tracks here from traditional carols "Hark The Herald Angels Sing" and "O Come All Ye Faithful", to more contemporary standards like "Little Drummer Boy" and "O Christmas Tree" and all are delivered in a timeless, old school gospel style. While some do feel a little clumsy compared to their more traditional renditions, Shirley's passionate delivery results in a Christmas album which has none of the usual cheesy clichés and though the tracks here emanate from 'Christmas With Shirley Caesar' and 'Christmasing' this compilation is well worth investigating if you don't have those albums.
