This album was recorded in July last year at the 23rd annual Shirley Caesar Outreach Ministry Inc Convention (whadja mean never heard of it?!) and a live album it certainly is. Shirley screams, sorry, sings so much in the first song you wonder if she's going to make it through to the end of the album! So what can you expect from this? Well, I found it genuinely sincere and heartfelt. If you can make it past the first three tracks, there are four songs in the middle of this recording that make it worth £12.99 alone. The other six songs are simply left in the shadow of these gospel monsters. If I had to pick a favourite, the gospel funk sound of "Praise Him" absorbs the listener into four minutes of exactly that - praise. And pretty groovy praise too. Overall then, this is pretty good though lacks that certain something to put the "icing on the cake". You could do better, but you could do a lot worse.
