Underoath by all accounts are making big waves in the US underground. Their music is an interesting mix of hardcore and indie rock, utilising loops, keyboards, acoustic guitars and melodic vocal harmonies, amongst the onslaught of heavy guitars and screeching hardcore vocals. The production and musicianship are excellent and the songs well written. My only complaint, and this is a matter of taste, is that the vocals grate a bit after a while, a lyric sheet will be an essential companion! That's the sort of thing people used to say to me, I must be getting old! This band push hardcore/metal beyond its limits.
