There are a number of David Evans's around in Christian music. This one is the television evangelist and pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, New Jersey and this album was recorded live at his church. It opens with "Let Go", a dance track sung by Samuel R Johnson whose vocals are fiery and commanding. Later on in the set there is an alternative mix of "Let Go" that focuses more on the instrumentation. Elsewhere there is "This Joy" written and performed by veteran artist Tracy Shy who has shared the stage with Earth, Wind And Fire and sung backup for Tramaine Hawkins. Tracy performs the fast paced song with passion. Sam Towns' ballad "Hosanna" takes this compilation in another direction. It is a mid-tempo track with beautiful lyrics and impressive vocals from Sam. "Do Something" written and sung by Lonnie Hunter is another danceable track that encourages the listener to do something when praising the Lord with exhortations to wave your hands, dance and shout. If you're looking for gospel worship performed in a variety of styles this album by some impressive grassroots talents is well worth looking out for.
