6 talented guys make up the initial band for this debut album for White Heart. These guys write and play some of the best pop styled songs for ccm.
"Carry On" was the first song I heard from this lp. We are introduced to the incredible vocals of Steve Green: This would be Steve's only album recorded with the group; he would start a long and successful solo career after leaving the group. Another ccm hit was the sensational "He's Returning"; just love it!!
Side 2 includes a great duet with top ccm songstress
Sandi Patti, who was well into her successful ccm career. Dann Huff duets with Sandi on "Everyday"; the song was co-written with Gary McSpadden: great sax by Sam Levine heard. "Black is White" is quite a different & kinda unusual composition; written by member Billy Smiley, Gary McSpadden, and then relatively unknown singer/songwriter/musician in ccm Michael Smith: Michael plays piano on this #.
I have a little difficulty with this song, as it deals with the subject, if the devil wrote a bible: the song gives attention to the devil. BTW, Greg Guidry a known songwriter in pop field lends a hand with bgvs for the song "Black is White; he was very talented on piano
& played in a band with pop icon Michael McDonald. Greg also released a debut album this same year as White Heart: sadly Greg died in a car fire at age 49 in July 2003. The last # on side 2 is a song I really
like "Go Down Ninevah". This first album really showcases the talents of these 6 guys.
GOD Bless! -Don
