With London 2012 at the forefront of the nation's consciousness, Huddersfield Christian Fellowship worship leader and singer/songwriter Andrew Kisumba has chosen to jump on the Olympic bandwagon and record his own Games song. Adopting the same musical space as fellow big event anthems such as Gary Barlow's Diamond Jubilee commission "Sing" and "One Moment In Time" by Whitney Houston, this is positive fare that attempts to inspire young and old to get caught up in the Olympic fever that is gripping the country. Whilst the song arguably represents a tick box exercise in how to make a successful event song - cue obligatory key change, an international element (Kisumba's Ugandan roots are reflected at the start of the song to great effect) and lyrics that seem vaguely spiritual without ever getting too deep or specific - Kisumba has delivered a memorable and worthwhile slice of polished pop that certainly mirrors the all-inclusive optimism of the Olympics. Add into the mix the fact that "Flame" has already received Radio 2 airplay as well as being performed by a massed choir of 500 children at the London's Royal Albert Hall and it's clear that Kisumba may have struck Olympic gold. Also included are an instrumental track and a version without Kisumba's considerable lead vocals.
