Fans of Christendom's top guitar hero have been especially well served with album releases over the past year or two, so the arrival of yet another mildly surprised this writer. As it happens, this particular instrumental-only CD is a reissue of an indie-label release from 1999, part of Phil's 'Music To Paint By' series. As with nearly all Keaggy's instrumental recordings, his playing here is exemplary and the largely acoustic arrangements share the same intimate air as, say, 1991's classic 'Beyond Nature'. As much of Phil's back catalogue (including "BN") is unavailable in the UK, this CD would probably suffice as a substitute for his previous instrumental releases. Whilst up to Keaggy's usual high standards, though, it's possibly more for completists than new fans.
