Fife-based Yankees, Rodd And Marco, enter large scale video making with a sharp collection of sketches. As Wayne and Garth (not!) they mix bogus guitar playing with a most excellent message, off-the-wall humour with uncompromising truth. Targeting an audience of young people, they tackle issues like idols and adultery with all the subtlety of a 10 ton truck, but with humour and integrity enough to keep all but the most cynical mind engaged. Tracks from their successful 'Jurassic Church' album are combined with favourites from live performances; check out the bodacious "Believer's Rhapsody" ("Be-elzebub has lost his hold on meeee!"). They even bare their satiric teeth over HRH "Defender Of The Faiths" and "Cathy Parker Bates". Production is obviously homespun and the determination to create special effects shows up the lack of resources. It needs all their professionalism to make it work, plus their wives, friends and some sea lions with plaintive eyes. But this re-run of the original vid (overhauling three scenes) shows that Rodd And Marco are continually striving for better things. Full of energy, talent and fresh ideas, all they need now is some money!
