Steve does everything here as if he was on stage in a Tim Rice creation or in The Lion King! On the Beauty side, he sings with dramatic effect, with a genuine good voice. The arrangements are decent enough in their sweeping orchestral way, and the musicianship is competent. Beast-wise, though, is the absolute paucity of decent songwriting. The one fairish attempt is the conventional "In You Alone", but the remainder wash along in a sub-Disney lather, via echoes of Mulan to strains of Aladdin, with the odd nod to Hunchback Of Notre Dame! There's not one ditty here that could hold a the remotest candle to the sublime "A Whole New World" and hereby lies the problem: it doesn't matter how well you sing, play or produce - if all your songs are as Micky Mouse as this lot, it makes for hugely dull listening.

I honestly don't know what Norman means by Mickey Mouse. They're fantastic, not repetitive like many today, thoughtful and beautifully sung. What a voice! Been a fan for years.

Norman - with my radio hat on, this album is fine - try track 8 - 'Forgive Me'
