Mai Pope pens and renders a good tune on the 21st century remix of "Golden Days". There then follows two tracks, "If I Wasn't There" and "How It Hurts" featuring the vocals of one Elton John (howzat?!) who inscribes the back sleeve cover: "Best wishes to our next star!" Fulsome praise indeed - flourished with his signature! Aimed at pop radio and (hopefully) chart success this single would sit comfortably on the Radio 2 playlist. Certainly, the singer deserves a wider audience. Remembering well the perspective of Mai's prominent performance on the heavenly 'City Of Gold' (1997), and the scripture "If any man builds on this foundation (Jesus Christ) using gold...he will receive his reward" (2 Cor.3: 12-14). Regrettably the "Golden Days" for this Pope may well be only in the eternal context. But who on earth knows what the future holds for a major talent with God's gift?
