This is a twin-CD re-release output consisting of live worship output from Soul Survivor events in the years 2002 and 2003 respectively. The three main contributors to these two sets are longstanding Soul Survivor favourites and outstanding names in UK pop/rock worship; Matt Redman, Tim Hughes and Martyn Layzell. These three, with their bands, let loose on popular worship anthems like "Lost In Wonder", "Beautiful One", "Befriended", "Consuming Fire" and "Facedown" - no prizes for who sings which song. Adding a bit of variety, David Gate, Vicky Beeching, Phatfish and the gone-but-not-forgotten Heat who each deliver one of their most popular tunes. Then there's a couple intriguing covers with Hughes' performing MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine" and Michael W Smith's "Agnus Dei" - both of which are truly worshipful. There's also a surprise or two with "Oh Happy Day" turning out not to be not his own joyful anthem of that name (which only came later, in 2006) but a version of the Edwin Hawkins Singers' original with the necessary choral bvs which goes down a treat. Perhaps the most interesting and unusual moment is the spontaneous song sung by Tim at the end of 'Glimpses Of Glory'. This song, "God Of Comfort" is one of the most well-formed expressions of spontaneous worship I've heard in a while, and Tim, having got into the groove, stays with it for a full six or seven minutes. All sensitively done. Disc One also includes video footage of "Beautiful One" as well as chord charts and acetate facilities. Interesting how fresh-sounding these returns to past Soul Survivors still sound seven or eight years on.
