Randy Stonehill announces breakup of his marriage

SINGER/songwriter and Jesus music veteran Randy Stonehill has announced the breakdown of his marriage to his wife Sandi. Read an entry on his Facebook page: "It is with sadness that I convey to you the failure of my long-struggling marriage of almost 30 years. Last year, after a renewed time of counselling together, I reached a turning point where I realised that I no longer had the will or strength to continue in my marriage. Those of you who have been through it know how agonizing it is, especially if that struggle ends in divorce. For those who value the honesty in my life, ministry, and in my songs, I want you to know what has happened and also to know that I am grieving openly about it, regard it as a failure in my life, and pray that the God of redemption will help me pick up the pieces and weave them into the tapestry of His will. I realise there will be consequences for my decision, but I am seeking the Lord for grace and mercy and likewise the same of the body of Christ. This has been a hard and painful process - for both of us. Your prayers on our behalf are much appreciated." CR

This has got to. E really old but I'm with you... this is nauseating. If I can't judge at least don't ask me to. If it's so painful there were times Christ went off to pray. This is just stupid. "I don't have the strength?" "The will?" Isn't that what God is for? Wimp on knuckle head. Still doing the same shtick. Booooring!

Sad to hear the enemy took you to that point. I have never been married. Fell in love once, but she married someone else. So I haven't been tugged far enough to give up on anything that long term.
While in the US Navy, serving overseas, the music the Lord gave you helped me see areas of the Christian life I began to experience over there, being saved in Hong Kong. Thanks for listening and penning/singing the songs He gave you.

Wow, this is beginning to look like a pattern? You are married the first time and remarry three months after the divorce is final. Again, you remarry after your second divorce within the same year. If you have an issue with marriage then why don't you just stay single?? Marriage can be HARD at times, but nothing compared to laying your life down on a cross. This is tragic, sad, and extremely disappointing. I don't know the reason your marriages have broken up but unless adultery was involved a break-up is never justified. Too bad the door is now closed for any reconciliation. I pray that your ex's and you can find forgiveness and healing through Christ to move on but I cannot look at you the same as I did back in the '70's. So sad.

You do know who his first wife remarried, don't you? And the situations that were leading up to that?

No idea about this second one--and he himself regards it as a failure, but can any of us look at ourselves the same way we did in the 70s? :)

Randy,
I am so sorry to hear of your divorce. You have touched so many people with your music and talent, and I know, even now, several years later, it still must hurt! I just pray that the Lord of the Emotions will continue to fill you and use you, because you are loved so much by Him, and by so many still here! God Bless you, my friend!

I am sorry but this really upsets me. In my errand running this afternoon, I listened to your song "TURN YOUR BACK ON THE GODS OF MEN" repeatedly I was very upbeat........and then I read this. VERY SAD........Are you going to the right source for your strength???

God has used you and will continue to do so. Grace and Mercy in Jesus.

Randy, you are loved. Find peace in His presence. This is not the end. Walk slowly; quality over quantity. Allow others to carry you.

Randy, Thank you for your openness, I know it's not
easy. I'm a big fan, since the 70's - so many of your songs have inspired me over the years. Some people heal fast, it has taken me years to get through the pain of a divorce. Having God in my life
makes the most difference, and I'm sure you're in a similar place. Love you brother, our hope is from above.

I have been divorced and feel the pain still from it. Growing up in church and feeling judged from the incident, I have a lot of empathy for you. May God bring guidance and peace.
