Back in CR19 your favourite mag ran a cover story on Yolanda (a brave action considering at that time the lady hadn't received a single UK release). Now after both Yolanda's first two albums have been giant black gospel sellers in the US her third gets a push into the CCM market with Word Inc swallowing Tribute. Like its predecessors, 'More Than A Melody' was produced by jazz keyboard maestro Ben Tankard (and you can read about HIM in CR8) and again like its predecessors is an artful blend of superclub sophistication and storefront church inhibition. Take for instance the dirge-slow "The Good Shepherd" which starts as a languid MOR jazz number but moves at the close into all out frenzy. The lolloping funky "Gotta Have Love" has already been Cross Rhythms Experienced. If you've heard it you no doubt already have discovered that Yolanda is more than a pretty face.
