This album claims to be a "compilation of classic Yolanda Adams songs". However, it's a disappointing selection from Yolanda's old albums and should have been much better. It starts slow and continues in the same low-key, over-laid back vibe that leaves the listener wanting more soul, grander ballads and entertaining numbers that bring down Heaven. Apart from the lyrics, which convey the always welcome message of God's love, the music is tired and uninspired and a couple show their age with synthesisers straight from the ‘80s. Yolanda also tries too hard to display vocal range by hitting high notes, then abruptly reverting to lower notes and back again in an erratic fashion that's neither necessary nor impressive. I was trying really hard to like this album, knowing Yolanda is a gifted and anointed singer, but alas, this is a dull compilation.
