Another re-issue of '80s recordings first released on Ears & Eyes. 'Ballads' is a collection of...er.ballads from Martyn's previous Ears & Eyes albums but sadly they're a bit boring. Each song sounds the same and "Ballad For The Children Of Ireland" didn't sound very Irish! It could have been "Ballad For The Children Of Scunthorpe"! To sum up, if you're a big fan who's worn out the vinyl I think these albums would be a nice addition to your collection. But if you've recently discovered the '90s acoustic songwriter Martyn Joseph you may well find these albums have not really stood the test of time.
