If composers could express what they want to say in plain prose like the rest of us, they would not be writing music. The stated aim of this series is to provide selections of songwriters' work plus sleevenotes providing their own commentary on their work. Unfortunately, neither the songs nor the sleevenotes on this particular album are particularly distinguished. The best track here is probably the old CCM hit of the '80s "The Warrior Is A Child", exploring a treasure in earthen vessels theme; but it would be good to have a copy of the lyrics to hand to appreciate it fully. If you're keen on Twila (one of the pioneering figures in CCM in the 70s and '80s) you may want to replace worn out vinyl with this compilation. But despite her sweet-voiced abilities and her capability to write congregational praise hits like "He Is Exalted" and "We Will Glorify", I remained unconvinced by this budget-line compilation.
