Like an ever-increasing number of artists, long-established CCM singer/songwriter Twila Paris is showcased with two of her previous albums, 1998's 'Perennial' and 2003's 'House Of Worship'. The musical contents are difficult to fault in terms of sound quality, production and musicianship. 'Perennial' has a rather hymnal atmosphere and is a relaxed if somewhat dull collection of 11 songs which vary from re-workings of traditional hymns like "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing" and Twila's own compositions "We Seek His Face" and "My Lips Will Praise You". Twila's sweet-toned vocals are as you would expect top-notch with a nicely rounded tone, but these songs don't showcase her obvious talents, especially in "We Seek His Face" which if you can imagine an American version of Enya, you're not far off. 'House Of Worship' is a touch more contemporary and upbeat thankfully with lots of well known favourites such as "We Bow Down", but as with 'Perennial' we get some over-the-top musical arrangements which I think for the British market are likely to dampen the appeal. Simpler would be more effective.
