There are occasions when my two grown up daughters revert back to their childhood by playing one of Larry's silly songs from an old Veggie Tales tape. This is guaranteed to end with an attack of the giggles. Larry the cucumber and his vegetable gang are still cooking up healthy doses of hilarity for today's tinies as I proved by getting a three year old to give 'Josh And The Big Wall' the once over. Although at her early age much went over her head, the music and stunning graphics on this DVD instantly caught her attention and instigated some highly imaginative dance moves. How often do we need reminding, no matter our age, that God's way turns out best in the end? That way may be a little weird, I mean we all like to use our own 'Wallminator' but like Joshua, portrayed by aforementioned Larry, overcoming problems can only be achieved by learning obedience. Before Josh can enjoy the Promised Land a massive obstacle stands in his way, a horde of French peas, sorry no, that's Jericho where they live. At the end of his own ideas, Josh in solitary contemplation meets the commander of the Lord's army whose plan does not make much sense but Josh chooses to obey. There are many discouragements including grape slushie missiles, but they and their little horns win through. Even at my ripe old age looking at Scripture through Veggie eyes was an amusing experience. One of the DVD's many extra features, "The Song Of The Cebu", described as a "stereophonic, multi-media event," I found really funny, although Larry's slide projector getting all mixed up did revive painful memories of a powerpoint presentation that bore many similarities.
