Fred Hammond's reinvention of himself - from singer/bassist with Commissioned to solo act to hip hop choir master ala Kirk Franklyn - really comes into its own on his second album with RFC. If Integrity or Maranatha had released this, it would probably have been called 'Urban Worship Vol 2' or something similar. The album (an exploration of the Psalms) is divided into three parts: praise and thanksgiving, adversity and triumph, and restoration and justification. It's very worship oriented and although musically it's a collection of very upbeat, funky R&B tunes, that doesn't distract the listener from the main aim of the album. It also makes a pleasant change to hear a choir where the choristers aren't all trying to out shout each other. Very high marks all round.
